Dylan Johnson carried 15 times for 156 yards including an 80-yard touchdown run for the Zebras (0-3). Backfield mate Nadir Harmon had 11 carries for 43 yards and scored on a 13-yard run.

Sayreville quarterback Mark Whitford, a sophomore completed 5 of 6 passes for 54 yards including an 11-yard scoring strike to Colton Redding.

“I think the offense is working really well,” Sayreville head coach Chris Beagan said. “The ball is being spread around. You obviously have your constants in the backfield (Holmes and Whitford) benefiting from solid O-line play. Mark is doing a great job distributing the ball. In the first three weeks, he’s run the offense about as clean as you can. He’s been very accurate with his passes and consistent when you need him. I thought there was one stretch in the second half where you could almost see him mature and grow in terms of reads and progressions. He was really on in the second half, and that allowed us to ice the game and kind of sit on the ball.”

Zuriel Wright (39 yards), Whitford (30 yards) and Jacari Carter (21 yards) combined for 90 yards on the ground. Each also had a rushing touchdown.

Carter led all receivers with two catches for 40 yards. Redding finished with two receptions.

Redding had an interception in the first half. Teammate Damian Lupo recovered a fumble in the second half. Sayreville (3-0) led 33-7 at the half.

Middle linebacker Mike Germann had a stellar game.
