Boys Soccer: Bridgewater-Raritan earns top seed in SCT

The Bridgewater-Raritan High School boys soccer team was named the No. 1 seed for the Somerset County Tournament on Wednesday night. 

The Panthers (6-0-1) earned the top seed last year and fell to eventual champion Bernards 4-3 in penalty kicks in the semifinals. Last year's finalist The Pingry School (2-1-1) was given the No. 2 seed, Somerville (4-1-1) was named the third seed and Gill St. Bernard's (2-2-1) rounded out the top four, which earn a bye into the quarterfinals.

Bernards, which won its first SCT title since 1990 last year with a 3-1 win over Pingry, was given the fifth seed. 

The first round is this weekend, while the second round is slated for Oct. 7. The quarterfinals are set for Oct. 14, the semifinals will be Oct. 21 and the final is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Torpey Field in Bridgewater.

13-North Plainfield at 12-Hillsborough, winner at 5-Bernards, winner at 4-Gill St. Bernard's

14-Rutgers Prep at 11-Bound Brook, winner at 6-Montgomery, winner at 3-Somerville

15-Manville at 10-Immaculata, winner at 7-Franklin, winner at 2-Pingry
