BOYS SOCCER

South Brunswick 5, New Brunswick 1: Jake Stump and Vinayak Iyer each scored two goals for South Brunswick (2-0). The Vikings, which led 2-0 at halftime, also got a goal from Antonio Debari, while Dylan Inguardi and Connor Ferry had assists. Christian Zapata scored for New Brunswick (0-1) off a feed from Mario Cruz.  

Pingry 1, Watchung Hills 1: Chris Meireles scored in the 10th minute for Watchung Hills and Alexy Alin-Hvidsten quickly responded with a goal for Pingry in the 11 minute. For Pingry, Mitchell Flugstad-Clarke added an assist and Owen Wolfson made two saves. For Watchung Hills, Ryan Santos added an assist and Tim Scanlon recorded 16 saves.

Hunterdon Central 3, Ridge 0: Josh Bordwick (an assist), Alessandro Truppi and Joseph Seifert each scored a goal in Hunterdon Central's opener. Matt Gambrill added an assist and John Padavano made three saves. For Ridge (0-2), Jason Clingensmith  recorded 12 saves. 

Carteret 3, J.F. Kennedy 0: Jefferson Sanchez and Debrasco Dorvilma each scored for Carteret in the opener for both teams. Nicolas Garrafo and Justin Villegas each added an assist, while Foti Xadia made three saves. Alex Obertan recorded six saves for J.F. Kennedy. 

Immaculata 2, Bernards 0: Kendall Davis scored both goals to lead Immaculata.  Anthony Ivanov had nine saves in the win, and Andres Lezme made four saves for Bernards.

East Brunswick Tech 5, Perth Amboy Tech 1: Dennis Noon had two goals and an assist in the opener for both teams. Adding goals were Jonathan Dela Rosa, Joshua Dela Rosa (an assist) and Seth Correra. Zack Chrobocinski also had an assist. Fernando Carabajal recorded 15 saves for Perth Amboy Tech and Diego Robles scored a goal.

Voorhees 4, Delaware Valley 0: Yachine Wahnon had the hat trick and Sam Houser added a goal for Voorhees (1-1). Teddy Stafford made six saves and Michael Cucchiara, Gerry Endersen and Lucas Cervelli each had an assist. 

North Plainfield 1, South Hunterdon 1: Danny Vasquez scored in the first half for North Plainfield off a pass from Brandon Diaz. South Hunterdon's Joe Armstrong tied the game in the 62nd minute. Cameron Paventi made nine saves for South Hunterdon (0-1-1), while Danny Gonzales had five saves for North Plainfield and Edgar Castaneda made four saves.

South Amboy 6, Edison Academy 5: Daniel Pena scored the hat trick and Jonathan Yepes had two goals to lift South Amboy (1-0). Daniel Pena added a goal and an assist, while Lance Pierce made eight saves. Abhishek Patel scored four goals for Edison Academy (0-2) and Jeffrey Fung added a score. Poojit Hegde had five saves.

Metuchen 2, Spotswood 0: Arun Subramian scored in the 60th minute from a Marco Spasiano pass, and Spasiano added a goal five minutes later to seal the win for Metuchen (1-1). 

Edison 4, Woodbridge 2: Benito Rojas scored twice for Edison, while Jason Salazar and Logan Kurdes netted a goal apiece. Adrian Mazariegos and Ben Daniels each had an assist for the Eagles (1-1). For Woodbrige (0-1), Peter Flomo had two goals.

North Brunswick 4, Sayreville 3: Alusine Kamara scored twice, while Fabrizzio Reyes and Chris Scariano each added a goal for North Brunswick (2-0). Adding assists for the Raiders were DJ Cobb, Chris Spataro and Isai Aguilar. For Sayreville (0-1), Zachary Colgan had two goals and Alex Szpindor scored once.

Piscataway Tech 4, Woodbridge Academy 1: Jordan Simpson netted the hat trick and Tony Ramirez added a score to lift Piscataway Tech. Adrian Garcia and Jose Dolores each kicked in two assists. Awab Hassan scored the goal for Woodbridge Academy and Alijah Vanterpool recorded eight saves.

New Providence 2, Union Catholic 0: Shane Mahlstadt had two first half goals to lead New Providence (1-0). Devin Mulligan and Ben Peng each had an assistant, while Dillon Konzelamann had 15 saves in the win.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 1, Plainfield 0: Brogan Quigley scored for Scotch Plains-Fanwood (1-1) and Aaron Schack recorded six saves. For Plainfield (0-1), Milton Moreno made four saves.

Somerville 3, Warren Hills 1: Aldair Franco, Scott Byrouty and Jacob Figuredo each scored for Somerville, while Juian Franco made six saves in the opener for both teams. 

J.P. Stevens 6, Piscataway 2:  Arnav Jain, Darshan Patel and Sukbir Ghotra each scored twice to help lead J.P. Stevens (1-0-1). Max Glinn made six saves for the Hawks, while Andres Infante had eight saves for Piscataway (0-1).

Bishop Ahr 4, South River 1: Jude Roche had two goals and two assists for Bishop Ahr, while Isiah Salazar and Rylan Krikoriam added a goal apiece. Ryan Loftus added two assists. Erick Lucas scored for South River.

Bridgewater-Raritan 6, Hillsborough 2: Brady Regan and Anthony Cabrera each scored twice to lift Bridgewater-Raritan. Nate Bliss and Dom Demcak also scored a goal apiece.

Rahway 4, Roselle 3:  Jakub Luczynski scored twice for Rahway (1-0), while Brian Diaz and Brandon Anorve each kicked in another goal.

Montgomery 3, North Hunterdon 1: Jack Callan, Jace Orvos and Tony Vicente-Bailon all scored as Montgomery won it season-opener. Charlie Rodgers tallied one assist and Nick Millett made seven saves. For North Hunterdon (0-1), David Moreira scored. 

 GIRLS SOCCER

Edison 4, Woodbridge 3 (2OT): Samanthan Moxie scored twice as Edison opened the season 2-0. Monica Roca added one goal and one assist. Rachel Weber also scored. Kendra Candido made eight saves. Gabby D'Emilio scored twice for Woodbridge (0-2). Olivia Gattone scored and Kelsey Savoia had one assist. Vanessa Mondragon made 10 saves. 

Bishop Ahr 5, New Brunswick 1: Jenna Sheedy scored two goals and Sachi Negri made 15 saves to lift Bishop Ahr in the opener for both teams. Also scoring for the Trojans were Jill Balsamo, Morgan Maguire and Anetha Jenkins. Lynne Dominguez scored for New Brunswick off a pass from Abigail Luengas. Ashley Garcia had 15 saves for the Zebras.

Metuchen 3, Middlesex 0: Skye Nowicki, Rory Josell and Natalie Tiu each scored for Metuchen in the opener for both teams. Julianna Mullen recorded 11 saves for the shutout, while Mya Stolarski had two assists and Rory Josell had one. Star Castillo had eight saves for Middlesex.

Wardlaw-Hartridge 5, South Plainfield 0: Freshman striker Bella Wysocki scored three times and Priya Golding found the twice for Wardlaw-Hartridge (1-1). Mia Reyes and Olivia DeSousa each had two assists, while Hannah Yates made four saves. Courtney Nagy had 11 saves for South Plainfield (0-1).

East Brunswick 4, J.P. Stevens 2: Sabria Glasgow scored a pair of first half goals to lead East Brunswick (2-0). Bailey Dressner and Nicole Unangst scored as well, and Lauren Krinsky made save. For J.P. Stevens (1-1), Andrea Maris and Katelyn Clemens each scored and Sarah Zimmer mad 13 saves.

Rutgers Prep 7, Manville 2: Macey Mento, Belle Pellecchia and Micah Livingston scored two goal apiece for Rutgers Prep (2-0). Amanda Aloia added a goal and an assist. For Manville (0-1), Lexi August and Emillee Diaz each scored, while Mindy Sonnenberg recorded seven saves.

Piscataway 3, Monroe 2: Delia Allwood scored twice and Isabella Caracta had two assists to life Piscataway (1-1). Kaitlyn Zeeb added a goal for the Chiefs, Hunter Samuel had an assist and Dana Ogilvie made eight saves. For Monroe (1-1), Leilah Mohamed and Gennyka Liebenthal each scored.

Summit 2, New Providence 1: Riley Kinum scored a goal off a Paola Salazar pass for New Providence's lone goal in its season opener.

Bridgewater-Raritan 4, Hillsborough 0: Allison Lowrey scored twice for Bridgewater-Raritan (2-0), while Elizabeth Hanemann and Gianna Minerva each added one score. For Hillsborough (0-1), Olivia Bandola recorded seven saves.

Bernards 2, Immaculata 0: Laurel McHale scored off a rebound 10 minutes into the first half and Kate Brito scored from 20 yards out to boost Bernards (2-0). Ahjin Yoo assisted on the second goal. For Immaculata (0-1), Chloe Martin made 10 saves.

Highland Park 7, Mother Seton 0: Elizabeth Girvan and Bailey Nester eached scored twice to lead Highland Park in the opener for both teams. Adding goals for the Owls were Jessica Wu, Julia Marks (2 assists) and Rebecca Ochan. Getting assists were Eve Schoeffler, Gabriela Sanchez and Sophia McDermott-Hughes. For Mother Seton, Maggie Moses and Camilla Kocsis each recorded three saves.

South River 1, Dunellen 0: Lauren Schmidt scored for South River (1-1), while Tori Pinto had nine saves.

Voorhees 1, Delaware Valley 0: Colby Gavornik scored in overtime off a pass from Laura Markarian to give Voorhees (1-1) the win. Jenna Baranek recorded 10 saves. For Delaware Valley (1-1), Chenoa Bernhardt made seven saves.

Plainfield 4, Hillside 2: Freshman Kiara Rosa scored three goals to lead Plainfield (1-0). Stephanie Pantaleon also had a goal and an assist, while Angel Branch made eight saves.

Colonia 5, Perth Amboy 0: Kelly Silva recorded eight saves for Colonia (2-0), which got goals from five different players--Daniela Cruz, Brianna Hendricks, Skylar DeGeorge, Ally Poulakowski and Naomi Ayala. For Perth Amboy (0-1), Danya Reynoso made 24 saves.

Westfield 4, Gov. Livingston 0: Nat Bond, Faith Dobosiewicz and Elisha Israel each scored their varsity goal to lift Westfield (1-0). Grace Elliott scored the fourth goal with a header off a corner. Michelle Coyle made 17 saves for Governor Livingston (1-1).

Carteret 3, South Amboy 1: Kimberly Brites scored twice and Gurjeet Kaur added a goal for Carteret (1-0). Angie Cedeno made six saves. For South Amboy (0-1), Jessica Henry scored a goal and Sarah Knapik had 19 saves.

North Hunterdon 3, Montgomery 1: Katie Fullowan, Kristin Wolf and Erin Kepenis each scored a goal for North Hunterdon in the opener for both teams. 

Sayreville 6, North Brunswick 2: Olivia Siveriio led Sayreville (1-0) with one goal and one assist. Lauren Attardi, Eliza David, Jacqueline Ventricelli, Stephanie DeOcampo and Ana Salgado also scored. Samantha Szymanski added two assists. Jordan Wilson made nine saves. For North Brunswick (0-1), Arianna Mattis and Xaria LaMar scored. 

FIELD HOCKEY

Metuchen 5, South Brunswick 0: Sarah Jeney scored two goals and Kamryn Chaudry had eight saves to lead Metuchen (1-0). The Bulldogs also got goals from Maeve Kenny, Emily Glutz (two assists) and Amelia Lorenzo (one assist). Additionally, Diana Misrahi and Lauren Hausser each kicked in an assist. 

Bridgewater-Raritan 5, Ridge 0: Tai Jankowski and Bray Madison each scored two goals for Bridgewater-Raritan (1-1). Rachel White added another goal for the Panthers, while Martina Kampel had two assists. Herman Sadie also had an assist. Bridget Doherty recorded 14 saves for Ridge (0-2).

Mount St. Mary Academy 1, North Plainfield 1: Emma Puglisi scored the game's first goal off a pass from Cara Moreau to give Mount St. Mary Academy the lead in the second half. North Plainfield's Noran Zaher responded with an unassisted goal as the game ended in a tie.

Bernards 6, Franklin 0: Meghen Hengerer (assist) and Lily Simon each netted two goals lift Bernards in the opener for both teams. Lilly Hengerer and Bianca Pineda also scored goals.Tara Weniger had 23 saves for Franklin.

Summit 3, Westfield 2: Maggie Maguire and Brigid Raftery each scored a goal for Westfield (0-2) and Megan Webber had two assists.

South Plainfield 2, Piscataway 1: Lynda Farinella and Quinn Milane each scored for the Tigers (1-0), while Tatianna Sutor recorded seven saves. For Piscataway (0-1), Amanda Lopez scored and Nadya Khan had 15 saves.

Hunterdon Central 5, Pingry 2: Kali Huck scored the hat trick, while Brittany Bill and Emily Brandt each had a goal for Hunterdon Central (1-0-1).  

Delaware Valley 2, Somerville 1 (OT): Madeline Bill led Delaware Valley (1-0) with one goal and one assist. Sarah Babcock also scored. Kelsey O'Connor recorded one assist. Bryn Rolon scored for Somerville (0-1).
