The Bishop Ahr High School football team turned in an impressive defensive effort, but the offense could not get on track in an 18-0 loss to Point Pleasant Beach on Friday night.

“It was tough sledding offensively,” Bishop Ahr head coach Joe Vigilante said. “The defense played excellent. (Point Pleasant Beach) had the ball in some short fields. I really thought the defense kept us in the game.”

Defensive end Darrell Dorrah, linebacker Luke Vizzoni and linebacker Jasaeh Bess shined for Bishop Ahr (1-1).

The Garnett Gulls converted a field goal in the first quarter and a field goal in the second quarter to build a 6-0 halftime lead. Point Pleasant Beach scored one touchdown in each of the remaining quarters to produce the final margin.

A Bishop Ahr drive stalled at the opposition’s 25 yard line as time expired in the first half.
