GMC TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS

South Plainfield 3, Bishop Ahr 0: Katherine Vill pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out five as top-seeded South Plainfield (20-3) advanced to the semifinals. Caity Hughes tripled and had one RBI. Jennifer Grasso had two RBI. Angela Sanchez, MaKayla Sosa and Taylor Santamaria each scored a run. For No. 9 Bishop Ahr (15-7), Katie Eicher allowed three runs on two hits and struck out seven. Megan Herka doubled. South Plainfield will face No. 5 J.P. Stevens in the semifinals at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Middlesex County College.

J.P. Stevens 10, Metuchen 0 (5 innings): Ashley Lombardi pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out six for fifth-seeded J.P. Stevens (15-4). She also finished with a double, one RBI and one run scored. Amanda Leary went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Brianna Zederbaum finished with a home run, four RBI and one run scored. Alyssa Mido went 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored. Chloe Ling scored three runs. For No. 13 Metuchen (12-7), Rachel Wyetzner, Molly Walters and Bridget O'Connor each singled.

South Brunswick 10, Carteret 2 (6 innings): Lindsey Warick went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored for second-seeded South Brunswick (15-1). Emily Collins went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored. Kate Mastro had two RBI. Jaime Klemas scored four runs. Jess Risch finished with two RBI and scored a run. Alexandra Zetchus started the game and allowed one run and struck out two in three innings. Gabriella Brancaccio entered in relief and allowed one run on eight hits and struck out two in three innings. For No. 7 Carteret (17-5), Gineyra Rios went 2-for-3 with one run scored. Caitlyn Murray and Gabriella Iannazzo each had one RBI. Jennah Schiraldo scored a run. Chloe Oblepias went 3-for-4. South Brunswick will face third-seeded Sayreville in the semifinals at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Middlesex County College.

NORTH 2 GROUP IV

Ridge 9, Woodbridge 7: Sammantha Carroll went 4-for-4 with one run scored as No. 8 Woodbridge (11-14) fell to No. 9 Ridge (11-11). Brooke Timinski doubled and scored twice. Kylie Gautier finished with one RBI and one run scored. Jordan Vazquez and Mackenzie Thomas each had one RBI. Emily Kolarick and Ashley Dugasz each scored a run.

CENTRAL GROUP I

South Hunterdon 8, Perth Amboy Tech 4: Diana Bueno went 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored as No. 4 Perth Amboy Tech (13-7) fell to No. 13 South Hunterdon (10-9). Izabelle Acevedo and Jaylen Alverez each had one RBI. Gabriela Gonzalez, Devyn Kennedy and Rebecca Haggerty each scored a run.

REGULAR SEASON

Edison 3, South River 2 (8 innings): Jessica Hoover allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out nine for Edison (4-17). Gianna Fresnedo went 3-for-4 with a triple, one RBI and one run scored. Kara Guno had one RBI. Bianca Newsom and Rebecca Abbatemarco each scored a run. For South River (20-4), Mackenzie Garrick went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored. She also allowed three runs, one earned, on seven hits and struck out 12. Hannah Kurtz scored a run.

Spotswood 5, East Brunswick 4: Krista VanWageninge had two RBI for Spotswood (13-11). Maddie Chu had one RBI. Shannon Gonnella finished with one RBI and one run scored. Rachel Intravartola, Gabby Pietanza and Savannah Robinson each scored a run. Joey Bartusak started the game and allowed one run on three hits and struck out one in four innings. For East Brunswick (6-15), Beth Anania doubled and had two RBI. Gina Morrison, Arin Pelletier, Mariah DiPierno and Kaleigh O'Kane each scored a run.

East Brunswick Tech 10, Wardlaw-Hartridge 9: Gabriella Carnevale went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, one RBI and three runs scored for East Brunswick Tech (12-8). Kelly Jamison finished with a double, three RBI and one run scored. Makayla Brown scored three runs. Katelyn Herman and Ariana Schreck each had two RBI. For Wardlaw-Hartridge (7-8), Kerry McGrath went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Kristyn Smith went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Andrea Tobar had a double, one RBI and scored twice. Jane Anderson-Schmitt and Priya Golding each scored twice.

South Amboy 13, Highland Park 3 (5 innings): Kaleigh Keegan allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and struck out four for South Amboy (12-5). Jaime Moran went 3-for-3 with one run scored. Samantha Rios went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored. Meaghan McCarthy had three RBI. Alexis Calisti finished with a double, two RBI and scored twice. Jenna Makar had two RBI.
