SKYLAND CONFERENCE

Montgomery 4, North Hunterdon 0: Junior Peyton Schnackenberg fired a four-hit shutout, walking six and striking out 10 as top-ranked Montgomery stayed undefeated. Kylie Karsay went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Kira Ferraiolo added two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Cougars (7-0). Maggie Swan singled and walked for North Hunterdon (7-2).
ANALYSIS: Another huge win for Montgomery, which just keeps rolling along. This one give the Cougars command of the Skyland Raritan race, as North Hunterdon falls for just the second time this season and first time in regulation after suffering a nine-inning setback against Watchung Hills earlier this year. The Lions made three errors in this one, as Montgomery got all four of its runs in the second inning, notching two earned runs and two unearned runs.

Bridgewater-Raritan 7, Hillsborough 2: Sam Ward posted two hits, including her fifth home run of the season, knocking in two runs, and Sammy Mazzagatti posted a pair of RBIs as Bridgewater-Raritan won its seventh straight. Kiersetn Farrell and Jordan Pearlman also drove in runs for the Panthers (8-1).
ANALYSIS: BR continues to roll after a surprising loss to Ridge in the season’s second game, claiming a key Delaware Division victory. Hillsborough is 0-5 headed into Wednesday’s game with Montgomery, which will obviously be a tall order for the struggling Raiders.

Bernards 20, Voorhees 13: Caroline Baratta collected four hits, including a double and two triples, scoring four runs and driving in five as Bernards won a barnburner in Lebanon Township. Sammi Re finished 5-for-5 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, including the 100th hit of her career, and Haley Huamani singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in three runs for the Mountaineers (3-6), who scored 12 times in the sixth inning to pull away. Sarah Furka posted two hits and two RBIs for Voorhees (3-4), which also for a single, doubled, three runs and an RBI from Paige Fedak. Abbegail O’Neil chipped in two hits, two runs and three RBIs for the Vikings.
ANALYSIS: I actually covered a Bernards/Voorhees football game this past fall. Had to look at this game report twice to see if Matt Tantleff’s name was in the box score. Both these teams have been giving up a ton of runs this year, so I guess this was inevitable. Nice job by Bernards scoring a key divisional victory here.

North Plainfield 11, Rutgers Prep 1: Lauren Lattimore tripled and drove in three runs, and Kiora Aurelien singled and drove in three runs to fuel North Plainfield. Reilly Appezatto added two hits and three runs scored and Victoria Kisling allowed just a run on four hits, walked two and struck out eight for the Canucks (3-0). Niya Parikh picked up two hits and an RBI for Rutgers Prep (0-5).
ANALYSIS: I’m actually in South Florida at the moment, so I don’t have access to my complete softball archives, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say the last time North Plainfield began a season 3-0 was over two decades ago.

Delaware Valley 11, Belvidere 1 (6 innings): Meghan Haff went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Sarah Zengel singled, homered, scored three runs and knocked in two as Delaware Valley won its fifth straight. Annaliese Rohrbaugh allowed one run on three hits, walked one and struck out six for the Terriers (5-3).
ANALYSIS: Del Val continues to show its 0-3 start was something of an aberration. For all the talk about the Terriers sorely missing ace Meghan Haff’s work in the circle as she makes her way back from an injury that’s limited her to her offensive contributions, Rohrbaugh has quietly put together quite a run of her own, notching five straight victories.

Somerville 9, Pingry 2: Christina Tonks drove in two runs and Natalie Babalis and Gillian Belkin each contributed a single and triple as Somerville improved to 4-3. Natalie Pinho earned the victory, surrendering two runs on three hits and no walks. Brynn Weisholz and Jullian Bahr each singled and scored a run for Pingry (0-6).
ANALYSIS: No surprise here, as Somerville offense continues to roll after a cold first week. Bahr was fairly solid for Pingry, allowing just four earned runs on five hits and no walks.

Warren Hills 13, Ridge 12: Ridge took a 7-2 lead in the second inning, but the Blue Streaks rallied back, scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge the Red Devils (4-4).
ANALYSIS: First “bad” loss of the year for Ridge. If the Red Devils are going to be big time – and it appeared they are on their way after beating Bridgewater-Raritan and Hillsborough earlier this season – Warren Hills is a team they need to be able to handle. Ridge is in for a much tougher task Thursday against Watchung Hills.

Watchung Hills 12, Immaculata 5: Erin Bean went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Sophia Cicchetti added two hits, two runs and two RBIs to lead Watchung Hills (7-1). Izzy Definis singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in a run in the victory, earning the win in the circle by allowing five runs on eight hits, walking four and striking out 10. Immaculata is 1-6.
ANALYSIS: Another outstanding game by Bean, who has settled in nicely near the top of the Watchung Hills order. And congrats to Definis on her first win of the year, filling in admirably for ace Robin McCabe, who was under the weather Tuesday.

Mount St. Mary 1, Bound Brook 0: The Mount Lions scored the game’s lone run on an error in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Gill St. Bernard’s 15, Manville 0 (5 innings): Grace Beveridge singled, scored three runs and drove in two more, and Maddy Bedrock allowed no runs on two hits, walking one and struck out nine over five innings for Gill St. Bernard’s (3-2). Nour Marzouk and Kerry Colford each chipped in a single and two RBIs for the Knights. Manville is 2-5.

East Brunswick Tech 22, East Brunswick Tech 12 (6 innings): Sarah Yagual struck a three-run double for Somerset Tech (1-1).

Wardlaw-Hartridge 16, Woodbridge Academy 12: Kristyn Smith singled, doubled twice, scored two runs and drove in five to lead Wardlaw-Hartridge. Olivia Tobey singled, homered and knocked in three runs for the Rams.

GREATER MIDDLESEX CONFERENCE

J.F. Kennedy 3, Carteret 0: Jillian Sims spun a two-hit shutout, walking three and striking out eight to boost J.F. Kennedy. Jenny Gordon doubled and drove in two runs and Julia Sinatra doubled in one run for the Mustangs (5-6). Bianca Oblepias and Chloe Oblepias each singled for Carteret (8-2).

Rebecca Haggerty added two hits, two runs and three RBIs in the victory. Gab Toral posted two hits, a run and an RBI, and Shantal Azcona singled twice for the Owls (2-3).

Sayreville 14, Spotswood 4 (6 innings): Kayla Stvan singled, homered twice, scored three runs and drove in five to aid Sayreville (7-1). Ryane Brush posted three hits, including a homer, two runs and three RBIs, and Emma Herrick added a double and a homer in the victory. Savannah Robinson finished 3-for-3 with a run scored and Rachel Intravartola singled twice for Spotswood (5-5).

South River 15, Academy for Urban Leadership 0 (4 innings): Mackenzie Garrick threw a four-inning perfect game, striking out 10, and Erin Kowalski collected a single, double, triple, three runs and two RBIs to propel South River (7-1). Selena Gaspar added a single, double, triple, two runs and two RBIs for the Rams.

Perth Amboy 18, Manchester 8: Mia Molina went 3-for-4 with a double and grand slam, and Angelica Mejia singled twice to boost Perth Amboy.

East Brunswick Tech 22, Somerset Tech 12: Grace D’Amato picked up four hits and five RBIs and Makayla Brown notched two singles, a double, three runs and four RBIs to fuel East Brunswick Tech (5-2). Winning pitcher Christine Crowe went 4-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs.

West Windsor-Plainsboro South 7, Monroe 5: McKayla Krajcsovics finished 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Kiersten Flueger singled twice, homered and knocked in two runs for Monroe (3-5).

UNION COUNTY CONFERNECE

Danielle Rinaldi singled, tripled, scored twice and drove in three runs, and Jordan Sacher went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for the Blue Devils.

Union Catholic 16, Kent Place 5 (5 innings): Danielle Finkelman singled, tripled and drove in four runs and Megan Sloane chipped in three hits, two runs and two RBIs to power Union Catholic (8-3). Isabel Santiago added three hits, two runs and two RBIs for the Vikings.
