Softball: Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament seeds released

The 2017 Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Softball Tournament seeds were released Monday and two-time defending champ Hunterdon Central was assigned the No. 5 seed. Pope John XXIII, Vernon, North Hunterdon and Sparta received the Top 4 seeds, respectively, and have a bye into the quarterfinals.

The tournament gets going Wednesday with first-round game, with the second round slated for Saturday. The quarterfinals are scheduled for April 29, the semifinals for May 6 – both at the higher-seeded school – with the final on tap for Saturday, May 13 at Phillipsburg High School.

Here are the seeds and matchups:

17-Hopatcong at 8-Hackettstown winner faces winner of 16-South Hunterdon at 9-Kittatinny in the second round, with that winner visiting No. 1 Pope John XXIII in the quarterfinals

13-Belvidere at 12-Voorhees winner faces winner of 20-Warren Hills at 5-Hunterdon Central in the second round, with that winner visiting No. 4 Sparta in the quarterfinals

14-Delaware Valley at 11-Phillipsburg winner faces winner of 19-North Warren at 6-Lenape Valley in the second round, with that winner visiting 3-North Hunterdon in the quarterfinals

15-High Point at 10-Wallkill Valley winner faces winner of 18-Sussex Tech at 7-Newton in the second round, with that winner visiting 2-Vernon in the quarterfinals
