New Brunswick 11, Highland Park 0: Kalbin Rodriguez hurled a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts for the Zebras (4-8).

The Zebras scored on a single by Elvis Diaz, a single by Wilson Gomez and a groundout by Kerandy Gomez in the first inning. New Brunswick scored four more runs in the second inning

Johenny Peralta (3-for-4), Jonathan Torres, Diaz, and Gomez each collected multiple hits for New Brunswick.

Monroe 5, Edison 0: The Falcons, who extended their streak of scoreless innings to 17, won their fourth straight and completed a series sweep of the Eagles.

Winning pitcher Chris Perdoni received help out of the bullpen from Matt Zurawiecki and Matt Fopeano.

Nick Quercia’s two-run single gave the Falcons (9-5) an early lead. Bryant Skurbe, who finished 2-for-3, scored Monroe’s third run on a passed ball. Shawne Eldridge’s two-run single in the fifth closed out the scoring.

Monroe's pitching staff hurled 14 shutout innings in the series and allowed just three hits in the two-game set with Rutgers University signee Eric Heatter hurling a no-hitter in the opener.

Old Bridge 12, J.P. Stevens 2: The Knights scored six runs in the second inning and added five more over the final two frames on the way to a game shortened to five innings via the mercy rule.

Winning pitcher Joe Papeo allowed two earned runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over four innings. Jake Kodros hurled a scoreless fifth.

TJ Angstadt went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Rob Laconti (three runs), Rob Dacunto (run and RBI), Kodros (two runs and RBI) and Papeo (run) had two hits apiece for Old Bridge (7-11).

Joseph Morrone had a double and an RBI and Frank DiSerio singled and scored for J.P. Stevens (4-12).

The Hawks were outhit 14-3 and committed five errors.

J.F. Kennedy 4, Sayreville 3: The Mustangs scored two runs in the fourth inning and two more in the ensuing frame to erase a 3-0 deficit to improve to 4-1 in one-run games this season.

Winning pitcher Jordy Mora allowed two earned runs on seven hits over six and a third innings. He fanned six and walked four. Richard Rojas retired the game’s final two batters, one via strikeout, to earn a nine-pitch save. Mora threw 106 pitches.

Mora helped his own cause, going 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI. Teammates David Morales, Micahel Matusz and Vivek Patel each had a hit and scored a run.

Drew Zimmerman went 2-for-4 and had two RBI in the first inning for Sayreville (7-7). Teammates Joe Polomene and Jayson DeMild each had a hit and scored a run.

DeMild was the tough-luck losing pitcher. He allowed three earned runs on five hits while striking out 10 and walking three in a complete-game, 98-pitch effort.

The Mustangs improved to 7-8.

East Brunswick 5, South Brunswick 0: The Bears, who blanked South Brunswick for the second consecutive day, extended their shutout streak to 19 innings.

Winning pitcher Mike Falco allowed four hits and fanned five without issuing a walk over six innings. Ryan Flynn hurled a scoreless inning of one-hit relief.

East Brunswick, which last allowed a run in the second inning of a 6-1 victory over Edison on April 28, scored four times in the home third. Christian Shelley fueled the third-inning outburst with a two-run single.

Brandon Rosenthal went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Jay Marchese and Flynn (3-for-4) each scored a run. Falco helped his own cause with a single, a run and an RBI.

The Bears (12-4) have won four in a row and five of their last six.

South Brunswick (10-7) has dropped four straight.

Woodbridge 4, South Plainfield 2: Winning pitcher Harry Rutkowksi went the distance, fanning nine and allowing one earned run over seven innings to help the Barrons (14-3) snap a three-game losing streak.

With the victory, Woodbridge improved to 8-3 in the White Division and can claim the division title with a win over last-place North Brunswick in its division finale.

Rutkowski helped his own cause, going 2-for-3 with his state-leading eighth home run of the season, a blast estimated at 450-feet that sailed into the trees beyond the left-field fence.

Justin Silva went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for Woodbridge, while teammate Carlos Marte also singled and scored a run.

Connor Adams had a single and an RBI for South Plainfield (11-6). Rob Gonzalez doubled and scored for the Tigers.

Losing pitcher Billy Keane allowed four earned runs on seven hits. He fanned four and walked two.

St. Joseph: 15, Perth Amboy 1: The Falcons scored 10 times in the fourth inning to pad their slim one-run lead on the way to their sixth consecutive Red Division victory.

St. Joseph (11-7) benefited from eight wild pitches, six walks and two hit batsmen after Perth Amboy starter Pether Minier hurled three solid innings.

Winning pitcher Kyle Subers fanned three and allowed one run on three hits over four innings.

Jon Sot went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Kyle Angel went 2-for-2 and homered for the second consecutive game. He finished with three RBI including his two-run round-tripped. Ross Maertz singled, plated two runs and scored once.

Manuel Pozo tripled for Perth Amboy, while teammate Devin Rodriguez doubled and scored the Panthers’ lone run on a wild pitch.

Metuchen 5, Carteret 2: The Bulldogs (10-5) extended their winning streak to nine games as Sean McCadden, who entered in relief of starter Will Hronich, closed the contest with four no-hit innings.

After Carteret took a 2-0 lead on a pair of singles and a throwing error in the home first, the Bulldogs cut the lead in half in the ensuing frame as Brandon Iskandar tripled and scored on Evan Derecter’s single.

Iskandar gave Metuchen a 3-2 lead it would not relinquish in the third with a two-run single. Matt Volpe’s RBI double in the fourth and Kyle Harry’s RBI in the sixth closed out the scoring.

Hronich allowed just three hits during his stint on the mound. Michael App, who fanned eight over six innings, was the losing pitcher.

Carteret fell to 5-12.

Colonia 6, Piscataway 2: Winning pitcher Chris Michael went the distance, striking out eight and allowing an earned run on five hits without walking a batter.

The Patriots (9-9) have won five of their last six, allowing a total of just six runs in those victories.

Jason Hilinski went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two runs and an RBI. Nick Michael singled, doubled and scored a run. Lou Matten contributed a two-run triple to the win.

Justin Mckeown went 3-for-3 with a double for the Chiefs, while teammates Chris Lowry and Drew Patel each singled.

Piscataway (9-8) has dropped five of its last seven.

Dunellen 5, South Amboy 3: After allowing a three-run homer to Nick Charmello in the top of the first, Kenny Tunison settled down to allow just four hits the rest of the way.

With Tunison keeping the Governors at bay, Dunellen (9-6) was able to chip away at the deficit and eventually take the lead while winning its ninth consecutive Gold Division game.

Ryan Kerwin had a single, a triple and three RBI for the Destroyers. Teammates Brandon Vail (two RBI) and Michael Harmon (run) each went 2-for-4. Alex Dornbeirer contributed a double and an RBI to the victory.

Kyle Gasiewski, the tough-luck losing pitcher, had three hits in the game.

Bishop Ahr 14, South River 5: Junior Sean Flynn earned his second win of the season on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits over four innings. Flynn struck out four and helped his own cause, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Rich Albrecht paced the offense, going 4-for-4 with a double and five RBI for Bishop Ahr. Senior Austin Brooks went 3-for-5 with an RBI and finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Brandon Rodgriuez went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Bishop Ahr (3-10), which has won three of its last four, completed a series sweep of the Rams (6-12), who have dropped four straight.

Mike DeSantis had three hits and scored three runs for South River, which was outhit 16-8.

Kyle French went 2-3 and Billy Drum had two RBI for the Rams.
