GMC Softball: This week's top 10, division standings and schedule

TOP 10

1. South Plainfield (15-1): South Plainfield had a 13-game win streak snapped with a 1-0 loss to Bishop Ahr on April 27, but bounced back with an 11-1 win over Carteret and a 2-0 victory over J.F. Kennedy on Monday. The Tigers have scored 112 runs so far this season and have allowed only 15 runs. 

2. South Brunswick (10-1): South Brunswick had a nine-game win streak snapped with a 4-2 loss to Monroe on April 28, but got back on track with a 10-0 win over Piscataway on Monday. Gabriella Brancaccio has started every game and has allowed 23 runs on 41 hits and struck out 39 in 53 1/3 innings. Alexandra Zetchus has been solid in relief, allowing four runs on 10 hits and striking out 13 in 14 2/3 innings.

3. Sayreville (12-2): Sayreville has won five in a row, outscoring opponents 37-14 over that span. The Bombers are giving South Plainfield a fight atop the GMC White, as both teams have 11-1 division records. Kelly Duffy has been stellar on the mound, allowing 28 runs and striking out 85 in 76 innings. She's also batting .560 with 28 hits, 18 RBI and 21 runs scored in 50 at-bats.

4. Monroe (7-8): Monroe has been experiencing a tale of two seasons so far this year. The Falcons have an overall record of 7-8, but are 7-2 and in second place in the GMC Red behind South Brunswick. Monroe has defeated South Brunswick, Edison, East Brunswick twice, Piscataway and J.P. Stevens twice.

5. J.P. Stevens (8-3): J.P. Stevens had a four-game win streak snapped with a 7-1 loss to Monroe on Monday. During its four-game win streak, the Hawks outscored opponents 36-2. Ashley Lombardi has allowed 15 runs and struck out 43 in 46 2/3 innings.

6. Old Bridge (10-3): Old Bridge has won three in a row since falling to South Brunswick 2-0 on April 21. Meaghan Dowdell has led the way on the mound with 107 strikeouts in 91 innings, while Nicole Cashman (.467) and Nia Carrasco (.422) are helping to lead offensively.

7. Bishop Ahr (10-6): Bishop Ahr has gone 2-3 in its last five games, with a 1-0 victory over South Plainfield and a 9-5 win over North Brunswick on Monday. Katie Eicher has 113 strikeouts in 66 innings, while Alyssa DeJianne has seven runs and struck out 47 in 34 1/3 innings.

8. Carteret (15-3): Carteret had a six-game win streak snapped with an 11-1 loss to South Plainfield on Saturday, but rebounded with a 14-0 victory over New Brunswick on Monday. The Ramblers, who are 12-0 and atop the GMC Blue, are led by Caitlyn Murray, who is batting .560 with 24 RBI, 28 hits and 26 runs scored.

9. South River (15-1): South River has won 14 games in a row and have outscored opponents 167-12, and have scored 10 or more runs in 12 of its 16 games this season. The Rams, which are atop the GMC Gold, have been led by Mackenzie Garrick on the mound, who has allowed 17 runs on 27 hits and struck out 187 in 78 innings.

10. Colonia (10-9): Colonia has won three in a row, with wins over Cranford and GMC White foes J.F. Kennedy and Woodbridge. The Patriots have a squad of pitchers to chose from, with Sabrina Tiseo getting the majority of the work. Frankie Brock (.352), Caitlyn Hroncich (.327) and Yamilee Moreta (.296) are helping to lead the offense.
