GMC Softball: This week's top 10, schedule, division standings
TOP 10
1. South Plainfield (18-1): South Plainfield, which earned the No. 1 seed in the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament on Monday, is in the midst of a five-game win streak. The Tigers have outscored opponents 46-7 and clinched the GMC Red Division title with a 7-5 win over Sayreville on May 4.
2. South Brunswick (13-1): South Brunswick has won four in a row since falling to Monroe on April 28. The Vikings, which earned the No. 2 seed in the GMC Tournament, has scored 36 runs in those four games.
3. Sayreville (13-3): Sayreville had a six-game win streak snapped with a 7-5 loss to South Plainfield on May 4.
4. Monroe (9-8): Monroe has won four in a row since falling to Allentown 3-2 on April 27. The Falcons picked up wins over South Brunswick, J.P. Stevens, Old Bridge and Edison.
5. J.P. Stevens (11-4): J.P. Stevens has won three in a row since losing back-to-back games against Monroe and South Brunswick. In those three wins, against East Brunswick, Edison and Old Bridge, the Hawks scored 23 runs and allowed only two.
6. Old Bridge (11-6): Old Bridge is in the midst of a three-game losing streak, with losses against South Brunswick, Monroe and J.P. Stevens.
7. Carteret (16-3): Carteret has won eight of its last nine games and has scored 10 or more runs in four of those wins. The Ramblers won the GMC Blue division title at 12-0.
8. Bishop Ahr (13-6): Bishop Ahr has won its last four games since falling to J.P. Stevens 3-2 on April 29.The Trojans scored 36 runs in those four wins against North Brunswick, Woodbridge, Perth Amboy and Immaculata.
9. South River (18-1): South River has won 17-straight games since its only loss of the season back on April 8. The Rams have only allowed 15 runs in those 17 games, with 11 shutouts.
10. Colonia (10-12): Colonia has suffered three-straight losses after a three-game win streak. The Patriots fell to South Plainfield, Delaware Valley and North Brunswick.
