J.P. Stevens 8, West Orange 6: Robert Distefano finished with four goals, two assists and 10 ground balls as J.P. Stevens started the season 4-0 for the first time in program history. Kevin Scoda registered two goals and one assist. Sean Seneviratne scored twice. Rishi Roy made eight saves.

Somerville 17, Allentown 5: Sean Kunz led Somerville (1-3) with five goals and four assists. Ryan Pedrani finished with five goals and one assist. Tommy Garrettson recorded a hat trick and two assists. Tyler Garcia scored twice. Griffin Leblond added one goal and three assists. Marco Pigna also scored.

Old Bridge 15, Curtis (NY) 2: Justin Fox finished with four goals and four assists and Patrick Rosiak scored five goals to pace Old Bridge (2-1). Anthony Mechowski tallied two goals and one assist. Micah Trawick added one goal and two assists. Jack Starner chipped in one goal and one assist.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Bernards 10, Mendham 9: Paige Petty finished with seven goals and three assists as Bernards improved to 4-0. Laurel McHale recorded one goal and two assists. Annie Thomas added one goal and one assist. Lily Simon also scored. Charlotte Grimm made 11 saves.

Lawrence 8, East Brunswick 6: Madelyn Farrell scored twice for East Brunswick (1-3). Angini Ragumar recorded one goal and one assist. Kayla Reardon, Caitlyn Robertson and Chloe Tauber also scored. Heather Solomon made 16 saves.

North Brunswick 18, Robbinsville 7: Tory Tucci recorded 12 goals and one assist to lift North Brunswick (3-1). Cassie Oake finished with a hat trick and five assists. Hayley Greenberg scored twice. Elena Vargas also scored. Natalie Chapman made nine saves.

Union Catholic 13, Boonton 1: Chynna Adorno led Union Catholic (2-2) with two goals and one assist. Christina Bubniak, Maggie Lapolla, Lauren Power and Amanda Scheidemann each scored twice. Coral Bieber, Karen Degnan and Kayleigh Kelly also scored.

St. Elizabeth 15, South Plainfield 8: Ashley Veliz finished with a hat trick and 12 ground balls for South Plainfield (1-2). Quinn Milane, Haley Olsen, Courtney Smith, Nancy Tran and Kate Smith also scored. Tatianna Sutor made 28 saves.

Warren Hills 13, Rutgers Prep 3: Brynn Bean recorded a hat trick and nine ground balls for Rutgers Prep (0-2). Skyler Scioscia added two assists and six ground balls.

Hillsborough 18, Old Bridge 2: Lindsay Shafer and Abby Zimmerlink scored for Old Bridge (1-2). Emily Lopes added one assist.

Woodbridge 5, North Brunswick 4: Jordan Vazquez finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, one RBI and two runs scored for Woodbridge (2-2). Jordan Cinelli went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Mackenzie Thomas went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Katrina Lauri went 3-for-4 with a triple and one run scored for North Brunswick (0-3). Kayla Scher went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Alyssa Contreras scored twice.

Cranford 2, Gov. Livingston 1: Jaime Belfer went 2-for-4 for Governor Livingston (2-1). Nicole Trezza and Alanna Namit also singled.

Somerville 6, Bernards 5: Emily Markowski went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Somerville (1-0). Gillian Belkin, Natalie Babalis, Amanda Kim and Veronica Dobranski also scored.

Bishop Ahr 4, J.F. Kennedy 1: Katie Eicher allowed one run one five hits and struck out 12 for Bishop Ahr (2-0). She also scored a run. Allison LaRochelle tripled and scored a run. Kayla Simon went 2-for-3 with one run scored. Colleen Sharlow doubled and had two RBI. Ryleigh Greewald finished with one RBI and one run scored. For J.F. Kennedy (2-1), Madison Buttitta went 3-for-4 with a triple and one RBI. Jillian Sims scored.

Sayreville 11, Colonia 3: Kelly Duffy went 3-for-4 with a home run, double, two RBI and three runs scored to pace Sayreville (2-0). She also improved to 2-0 on the mound after she allowed three runs, two earned, on 11 hits and struck out seven. Ryane Bush went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. Emma Herrick went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and three runs scored. For Colonia (1-3), Alyssa Gregor went 3-for-4 with one run scored. Casey Mulrooney and Yamilee Moreta each had one RBI. Jessica Donovan and Sarah Soos each scored a run.

Metuchen 16, New Brunswick 0 (4 innings): Brooke Bandola went 2-for-3 with a triple, double, two RBI and three runs scored for Metuchen (2-1). Alanna Benderly went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored. Sofia Perillo doubled and scored a run. Cristina Czochanski pitched a no-hitter and struck out four. Julie Pirro doubled and scored twice.

South Plainfield 16, Perth Amboy 0 (4 innings): Katherine Vill pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out six for South Plainfield (3-0). At the plate she finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. Caity Hughes went 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and three runs scored. Jillian Holoboski doubled, scored twice and had one RBI. Cameron Marks had three RBI and scored a run. Ashley Castro had the lone hit for Perth Amboy (0-3).

South Amboy 21, Timothy Christian 1 (4 innings): Alissa Bikowski went 2-for-2, doubled, hit a three-run home run and scored four runs for South Amboy (1-2). Shannon Tran doubled, scored twice and had four RBI. Kaleigh Keegan allowed one run on four hits and struck out four. She also had two RBI and scored three runs. Samantha Rios went 2-for-2 with two RBI and four runs scored.

Spotswood 7, Middlesex 4: Natalie Devine went 2-for-2 with two runs scored for Middlesex (2-1). Ashley Dotey went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and one run scored. Kristie Tackach had one RBI.

BASEBALL

Somerville 6, Bernards 4: Dante Bozzuti went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, one RBI and one run scored for Somerville (1-1). Christopher Ciempola went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Devin Hack scored twice. For Bernards (1-2), Robbie Holmes tripled and had three RBI. Brendan Ryan went 2-for-3 with one run scored. Timmy Lallis finished with one run scored and one RBI.

Middlesex 10, Carteret 0: Patrick Kannaley pitched a three-hit, complete-game shutout and struck out 10 for Middlesex (3-0). Quincy West went 2-for-3 with one RBI and three runs scored. Jack Hnylycia had two RBI and one run scored. Mike Salerno doubled and scored a run. For Carteret (2-1), Chris Pena went 2-for-3 and Angelo Golino singled.

South Amboy 12, Timothy Christian 2 (5 innings): Kyle Gasiewski went 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run scored for South Amboy (1-2). For Timothy Christian (0-3), Jarrett Johnson and Michael Meleta each scored a run. Jonathan Thiero had one RBI.
