Bridgewater-Raritan 5, Morristown 4: Kiersten Farrell went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Sarah Karmazyn added two hits, a run and an RBI as Bridgewater-Raritan improved to 5-1. Sammy Mazzagotti picked up the victory, allowing three earned runs on nine hits, walking three and striking out four. The junior is 5-0.
ANALYSIS: Nice to see the Panthers win a game they pretty much controlled the whole way, as BR shook off a two-run Morristown first inning by taking a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning, stopping the Colonials’ seventh-inning rally at two runs.

Watchung Hills 7, Somerville 3: Izzy Definis went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs, and Tina Zoppi posted to hits, two runs and an RBI to lead Watchung Hills (5-1). Genna Cicchetti and Shelly Zoppi each chipped in two hits in the victory. Robin McCabe earned the win, allowing two earned runs on six hits, walking one and striking out six. Haley Naftal drove in two runs for Somerville (1-3), while Christine Tonks notched two hits.
ANALYSIS: Took the Warriors a few innings to shake off the remnants of Wednesday’s emotional loss at Montgomery, as Watchung Hills trailed 3-1 after two innings.
Nice job by Somerville staying with the powerhouse defending Group IV champ, but that offense is tough to keep down for long without a dominant, hard-throwing pitcher. Still, the Pioneers are better than their record indicates, so don’t let 1-3 send you Ville fans into a panic just yet.

Delaware Valley 11, Hillsborough 9: Alexa DeWire notched four hits, a run and five RBIs, and Sarah Zengel and Lydia Brown each homered to boost Delaware Valley, which scored in every inning but the second to improve to 2-4. Rebecca Reichert chipped in a single, double and two RBIs for the Terriers. Kelsey Galevich singled, doubled and drove in three runs and Alissa Saverino went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for Hillsborough (0-3). Julia Kwiatek went 3-for-3 and scored three runs and Alexa Penna drove in two runs for the Raiders.
ANALYSIS: The game featured three errors by each team, so I’m guessing they came in more crucial spots for Hillsborough. Not quite sure what to make of the Raiders’ start after Wednesday’s loss to Ridge. Hope to get a chance to see Boro soon.
This is an unbelievable victory for Del Val, which limped out to a 0-4 start before winning two straight. We knew it was only a matter of time before the talented Terriers got things headed in the right direction and this is certainly a heck of a course correction.

Montgomery 9, Gill St. Bernard’s 0: Abby O’Connor and Peyton Schnackenberg combined on a no-hitter as Montgomery stayed undefeated with a victory under the lights at Torpey Field. Schnackenberg went the first three innings, allowing no walks and striking out five, before O’Connor finished up, tossing four hitless innings, walking none, hitting a batter, and fanning six. O’Connor led the offense, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Schnackenberg and Kaitlin Kochinski each posted a single, double, two runs and two RBIs for the Cougars (4-0). Nour Marzouk was hit by a pitch for Gill St. Bernard’s (2-2).
ANALYSIS: An easy day at the office for the Cougars after Wednesday’s high-pressure outing against Watchung Hills.

North Hunterdon 11, Voorhees 0: Maggie Swan spun a two-hit shutout, walking none and striking out 11 over seven innings as North Hunterdon improved to 6-1. Swan added three hits and four RBIs to aid her own cause. Meghan Graham went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs. Sarah Furka and Abbegail O’Neil each singled for Voorhees (3-1).
ANALYSIS: Swan was solid last season, but has seemed to turn things up a notch. If she’s evolved into a true ace, and with some of the younger players emerging offensively to join an already-established star in Graham, North could be in for a special season.

Governor Livingston 12, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 1 (5 innings): Jaime Belfer finished 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI and Christine Pacheco tripled twice and scored two runs for Governor Livingston (5-2). Madison Phillips allowed no earned runs on six hits, walked none and struck out four to notch the five-inning victory. Lexi Brunetto singled and drove in a run and Jessica Waltsak notched two hits for Scotch Plains-Fanwood (1-4).

Westfield 15, Union 1 (5 innings): Ally Gulla went 4-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs and Jordan Sacher homered and drove in three runs to power Westfield (3-2). Erica Lawrence added three hits, including a triple, three runs and an RBI for the Blue Devils.

Chatham 9, Bernards 3: Caroline Baratta picked up two hits, a run and an RBI, and Sammi Re went 2-for-3 and scored a run, but Bernards fell to 1-5. The Mountaineers allowed six unearned runs, committing four errors.

Hun 20, Rutgers Prep 0 (4 innings): Caleigh Van der Veer singled in the fourth inning, the first hit for Rutgers Prep (0-4).

South Brunswick 13, Immaculata 3 (6 innings): Tran Torraca went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs and Gianna Novak singled and scored a run for Immaculata (1-5).
