Bernards 2, North Brunswick 1: The Mountaineers (7-3) snapped a 1-1 tie in the top of the 12th to win their fourth straight.

Tim Wallace singled, stole second and scored the winning run on a bloop single to right.

Christian Petrillo led off the first inning with a double, took third on a fly out and scored on Damion Ortiz’s single to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Bernards scored the equalizer in the fourth.

North Brunswick (3-9) dropped its third in a row and endured its third one-run loss of the season.

Ryan Breheney lined out sharply to center with runners on first and second to end the game.

Sayreville 11, Edison 8: Cameron Carey earned his first victory on the mound, striking out six batters over four and two thirds innings.

Jayson DeMild went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI for Sayreville (4-4), while teammate Bryan Fernandez singled, doubled and plated three runs.

Sayreville led 10-2 after four innings and was outscored 6-1 over the final three frames to produce the final margin. Joe Polomene, Kyle Richards, Drew Zimmerman, Kyle Lewis and Tommy Kearns had one hit apiece for the Bombers and combined to score five runs.

Zimmerman hurled the final two and a third innings for Sayreville. He fanned six and did not allow an earned run.

Jason Smith went 4-for-4 for the Eagles (2-10), while teammate Christsian Biolsi had three RBI and a triple.

Frank Vega (3-for-5) and Mike Barbato (2-for-4) also excelled at the plate for Edison.

Pope John 6, St. Joseph 0: The Falcons were blanked for the first time since May 21 of last year as Pope John (9-3) hurled its second consecutive shutout and sixth of the season.

St. Joseph starter Kyle Subers allowed two runs in the first inning. He settled down to blank Pope John over the next four innings. Nick Estes hurled the final two frames.

Michael Farr (2-for-3) and Ross Maertz (1-for-3) had St. Joseph’s only hits off ace Sean Roberts, who improved to 4-0 with his victories including a win over highly regarded Don Bosco.

St. Joseph won last year’s meeting between the schools 8-4.

East Brunswick Tech 4, Perth Amboy Tech 2: Rookie Garrett Allo collected three hits including a double and scored a run as the Tigers (8-0) remained undefeated and atop the Gold Division.

Dylan Montuoro singled twice for East Brunswick Tech. Winning pitcher Vincent Pellicane hurled four innings before yielding to reliever Austin Montgomery. The duo combined for six strikeouts.

Davian Batista had two hits and scored both Perth Amboy Tech runs.

South River 9, Henry Hudson 3: Louis Sasso went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the resurgent Rams (5-6) to their third consecutive victory.

Kyle French went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs for South River, while teammate Billy Marlow contributed an RBI double.

Winning pitcher Tyler Szerszen allowed no earned runs and yielded just two hits over five innings.

New Providence 6, Dunellen 2: The Destroyers scored twice in the third inning, trimming a 3-0 deficit to one run, but were never able to take the lead as they yielded three more runs without scoring one of their own over the final four frames.

Joe Olsommer went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI for Dunellen (5-5), which had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Olsommer and Kenny Tunison hurled three innings apiece, combining to allow six hits and four walks.

Brandon Vail plated the Destroyers' other run.

A.L. Johnson 9, Piscataway 1: Chris Corvil singled and scored the Chiefs' lone run. John Swier went 2-for-3. Drew Patel's double was Piscataway's lone extra-base hit.

Jordan Brown and Jordan Martell each singled for the Chiefs (7-4). Corvil had a stolen base.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 4, Colonia 1: Frank Lehman went 3-for-4 and Jason Hilenski went 2-for-4 with a double for the Patriots, who could not must enough offensive support for starting pitcher Tyler Layton.

Layton limited the Raiders to seven hits in a complete-game effort. He fanned two, walked seven and allowed three earned runs on 110 pitches.

Hilenski scored Colonia's lone run. Nick Nielson and Tom Mitch each had a hit for the Patriots.

Metuchen 8, Bishop Ahr 7: The Bulldogs (3-5) registered their second consecutive dramatic comeback victory, scoring the winning run on Sean McCadden's squeeze bunt in the eighth inning.

Metuchen had to rally from a 5-0 deficit. The Bulldogs scored a single run in the second and two more in the fourth and two more in the fifth to forge a 5-5 tie. After the Bulldogs took a 6-5 lead in the sixth on a misplayed fly ball, Bishop Ahr scored twice in the top of the seventh on Matt Smith's two-strike, two-out, two-run homer to take a 7-6 advantage. Metuchen answered with Mike Lapczynski's solo homer in the bottom of the frame to force extra innings.

Freshman shortstop Jay Harry led off the eighth with a single. Brandon Iskandar, who finished 3-for-3 with two RBI and a triple and a homer, walked. John Szpara legged out a bunt single, setting the stage for McCadden's heroics.

McCadden earned the win on the mound with four innings of three-hit relief. He allowed two runs, neither of which was earned, with a strikeout and a walk.

Jack Roarty doubled and Austin Brooks tripled for Bishop Ahr (0-8). Brooks had three RBI, including a two-out, two-run double in the third. Teammate Dudley Engram plated a run.

Will Hronich, who was Metuchen's starting pitcher, had two RBI.

Spotswood 4, Carteret 2: The Chargers (9-2) rallied for four runs in the fifth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit on the way to their seventh consecutive victory.

Nick Mohr and Dylan Steel drew consecutive walks to start the fifth inning. Mohr scored from second when Nick Vincelli’s groundball to shortstop was misplayed. JT Vento’s RBI single made the score 2-2. Matt Ciaccio and Mike Izzo each walked with the bases-loaded to force home the go-ahead run and an insurance tally.

Chris Auciello recorded his fourth save without squandering an opportunity. He allowed one hit over two scoreless innings of relief. Auciello entered with runners on first and second and none away in the sixth. He fanned cleanup batter Mike App, induced the next hitter into an infield pop out and worked out of the jam with a groundout. He struck out the side in the seventh.

Chris Pena went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles for Carteret (4-6), while teammate Mike Bennett had a double and an RBI. Vento finished 3-for-3 with a run scored.

Matt Vento pitched five-plus innings for the win.

Highland Park 7, Wardlaw-Hartridge 6: Ryan O’Shea went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and two RBI in support of winning pitcher Myles Herzog.

Herzog went the distance, fanning five, walking none and scattering eight hits in a 94-pitch effort. He allowed just four earned runs.

Dylan Powell went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI for Highland Park (6-2), while teammates Marcello Herzog and Jonah Rosen each scored a run. Liam Roth went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

The Rams (2-5) were outhit 12-8.

Woodbridge 13, Union Catholic 1: The undefeated Barrons scored seven runs in the second inning, providing victorious hurler Carlos Marte with more than enough support, as they extended their winning streak to 10 games.

Justin Silva went 2-for-5 with a double and five RBI. Josepher Gutierrez went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and two runs scored. Michael Medvetz singled twice and scored for the Barrons.

Marte allowed one earned run, two hits, fanned two and walked four over five innings. The Vikings (6-4) were outhit 11-2 and committed four errors that led to nine unearned runs.

Freshman second baseman Ismael Reynoso recorded his first varsity hit and first varsity RBI. Joe Dunn scored twice, while teammates Zach Joe and Harry Rutkowski each crossed the plate once. Rutkowski tripled.

Woodbridge scored five times in the home fourth to invoke the mercy rule.

The Barrons have limited six opponents to a run or less.

Jackson Memorial 7, East Brunswick 5: After spotting the Jaguars seven runs in the second inning, the Bears rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh to make the final score respectable.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for East Brunswick, whose staff has not allowed seven runs in a game since doing so in consecutive meetings of a season-opening series against St. Joseph.

Centerfielder Ryan Flynn went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, while Nick Martino plated East Brunswick’s other run.

Martino walked twice and scored. David Bermudez and Mike Falco were the only other Bears to get a hit.

Falco allowed one run in three and a third innings of relief. Flynn retired all three batters he faced in the sixth.

The Jaguars improved to 4-4.

Middlesex 13, New Brunswick 4: Matt Carovillano went 2-for-4 with two homers, four RBI and three runs scored as the Blue Jays improved to 10-1.

Mike Salerno also clubbed a homer. He finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, a double and a run scored. Michael Schweyher (two doubles) was the only other Blue Jay to have a multiple hit game. Six teammates had one hit apiece. Nick DiMaggio walked three times and scored three runs.

Johenny Peralta (2-for-4) and Elvis Diaz (2-for-3) combined to score three runs for New Brunswick (3-5), while teammate Kerandy Gomez had a hit and scored a run.

Winning pitcher Tyler Dymond fanned nine, scattered seven hits and allowed three earned runs over five and two thirds innings.

Middlesex scored four times in the third inning to build a 7-0 lead. The Zebras were outhit 12-9.

Middlesex has scored eight or more runs against seven opponents.

South Amboy 17, Piscataway Tech 0: The Governors scored 13 runs in the third inning on the way to their second consecutive victory.

Zach Honimar, Jordan Ortiz, Raymond Perez and John McCleery (2-for-2) had two RBI apiece for South Amboy (3-5). Teammates Stephen McGlaughlin and Kyle Gasiewski (2-for-4) each plated a run.
