Lacrosse: Bridgewater-Raritan earns top seeds in Somerset County Tournaments

The defending champion Bridgewater-Raritan High School boys and girls lacrosse teams were named the No. 1 seeds in the Somerset County Tournament on Wednesday.

The Bridgewater-Raritan boys lacrosse team, which won its second-straight SCT title last season with a win over Pingry, earned the No. 1 seed with an 11-0 record. Ridge was named the No. 2 seed, Montgomery was given the No. 3 seed and Watchung Hills is the fourth seed. The fifth seed went to Pingry and the sixth seed is Bernards. The top six seeds earned byes into the quarterfinals.

The first round is scheduled for Saturday, with the quarterfinals set for May 8. The semifinals are May 10 and the final will be on May 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Torpey Field.

In the girls bracket, the Panthers (12-1) will be looking for their third-straight county title. Bridgewater-Raritan defeated Bernards, which earned the No. 2 seed, in the final last year. Hillsborough was named the No. 3 seed and Pingry is the fourth seed. Ridge is the No. 5 seed and Mount St. Mary is the sixth seed. The top six seeds earned a bye into the quarterfinals.

The first round is to be played by Saturday, and the quarterfinals will be held on May 9. The semifinals are set for May 11 and the final will be part of a doubleheader with the boys at Torpey Field, starting at noon.
