Ridge 4, Hillsborough 3: Ridge scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to come from behind and top Hillsborough. James Crowley tossed 6 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run on six hits and three walks while striking out eight for the Red Devils (3-2). Matt Kuc allowed one unearned run on four hits and one walk in 4 1/3 inning of work for Hillsborough (2-3).

BASEBALL: CROWLEY SHINES AS RIDGE RALLIES TO BEAT HILLSBOROUGH

Watchung Hills 4, Union City 2:  Nick McGann threw six innings,  giving up two runs, one earned, one five hits, walking one and striking out seven to improve to 2-0 and lift Watchung HIlls. Dylan Murphy pitched the seventh to earn the save. Mike Recenello ripped an RBI double in the top of the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie. Tyler Riley was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two stolen bases in the victory.

Montgomery 20, South Plainfield 2 (5 innings): Tommy Denlinger went 2-for-2 with a grand slam, six RBI and one run scored for Montgomery (7-0). Vikram Avancha went 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI and one run scored. Avancha also improved to 2-0 after he allowed two runs on six hits and struck out three. Michael Patrizio and Nick Pascale each had one RBI and scored three runs. Ryan McKenna finished with a double and two RBI. For South Plainfield (3-2), Dylan O'Connor went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Rob Gonzalez and Mike Stanczak each scored a run.

Voorhees 11, Pingry 3: Marcus Celiano singled, tripled, scored twice and drove in three runs, and Colin Tong singled and knocked in three runs to fuel Voorhees (5-1). Tong earned the victory, going four innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, walking none and striking out three. Zach Keller doubled and drove in a run and Spencer Spellman went 1-for-2 with an RBI for Pingry (2-3).

Westfield 7, Bridgewater-Raritan 5: Chris Wagner doubled and drove in two runs, and Jake Vall-Llobera singled and knocked in two runs to spark Westfield (3-3). Kobi Wolf and Jake Lerie also picked up RBIs for the Blue Devils. Nate Race singled, doubled and drove in two runs for Bridgewater-Raritan (4-1). Ryan Nagle and Greg Verano each singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Panthers.

Gill St. Bernard’s 9, Franklin 5: Cameron Miller went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs and Jake McMahon went 3-for-3 with two runs scored as Gill St. Bernard’s improved to 3-2. Joe Johnson and AJ Donofrio each added RBIs for the Knights. Franklin is 0-4.

Union Catholic 6, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 5: Donivyn Cruz went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to spark Union Catholic (4-2). Matt Lettieri posted two hits and a run scored in the victory. Scotch Plains-Fanwood is 3-3.

Elizabeth 2, New Providence 0: Joseph Nave singled twice and Tyler DeGeorge added a hit for New Providence (1-4). Ryan Sherman allowed just one earned run on two hits, two walks and struck out two for the Pioneers.

South Brunswick 3, Hunterdon Central 2 (8 innings): Mark Saponara and Dan Icaza drove in runs for Hunterdon Central, but South Brunswick responded to the Red Devils’ run in the top of the eighth inning with two of its own in the bottom of the frame. Ryan Koep went 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Central (3-2). Joey DeChiaro went seven innings for Central, allowing just a run on seven hits, no walks and striking out 10 in a no-decision.

Dunellen 11, South Amboy 7: Joe Olsommer entered in the fourth in relief, allowed one run on four  hits and struck out four to earn his first varsity win for Dunellen (2-3). Mike Harmon homered, drove in two runs and scored a run. Ryan Kerwin went 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored. Kenny Tunison had three RBI. Alex Dornbeierer went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. RJ Mitchell scored twice. Frank DeMaio added one RBI and two runs scored.

South Plainfield 7, Sayreville 3: Rob Gonzalez allowed one run on five hits and struck out nine in five innings for South Plainfield (4-2). Connor Adams went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored. Ricky Pellegrino went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

Middlesex 6, South River 5: Middlesex scored five runs in the top of the sixth to beat South River (). Nick DiMaggio went 3-for-4 with one run scored for the Blue Jays (5-0). Michael Schweyher finished with a triple and three RBI. Jack Hnylycia and Jared Zimbardo each had one RBI and one run scored.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Westfield 10, Mendham 9 (OT): Hannah Liddy scored within the first minute of overtime after Westfield won the draw control and the Blue Devils improved to 3-3. Westfield scored three goals in the final minute of regulation to force the extra session, getting the equalizer from Natalie Bond. Liddy finished with five goals, Haley Farella chipped in three goals and Bond scored twice in the victory.

Ridge 18, Voorhees 8: Mena Loescher netted five goals and Bea Behrins and Georgia Pesot each tallied three goals as Ridge stayed undefeated. Emma Wightman hit twice for the Red Devils (7-0). Emily Zobian scored five goals for Voorhees (0-4).

New Providence 12, Cranford 8: Kaitlyn Chumskey scored six goals an added an assist to send New Providence. Samantha Scott chipped in two goals and two assists to go with a pair of groundballs, while Katherine Marzynski contributed two goals and an assist for the Pioneers (4-1).

Monroe 16, South Plainfield 1: Ashley Patten tallied four goals and three assists, and Courtney Frycz added two goals and two assists to fuel Monroe (6-1). Kara Turco, Lesley Lane and Olivia Hyrmoc all added two goals apiece for the Falcons. Haley Olsen scored a goal for South Plainfield (1-4).

South Brunswick 18, East Brunswick 5: Shannen Sterner scored six goals and Haley Konopka added two goals and three assists as South Brunswick rolled. Briana Gonzalez and Jill Grzelak each scored twice for the Vikings (5-1). Caitlyn Robertson scored three goals and Madelyn Farrell hit twice for East Brunswick (2-5).

Old Bridge 18, J.P. Stevens 3: Abby Zimmerlink notched five goals and an assist and Julia Sandor chipped in two goals and three assists to propel Old Bridge (3-2). Emily Lopes and Lindsay Shafer contributed two goals each to the Knights’ cause. Christina Rusk and Sara Piaseck each scored a goal for the Hawks (0-4).

Mount St. Mary 19, Wayne Valley 4: Jennah Santiago netted six goals and Alaina Parisella scored five goals, dished out two assists and notched eight ground balls as Mount St. Mary rolled. Emma Genovese chipped in three goals, an assist and 11 ground balls for the Mount Lions (6-1).

BOYS LACROSSE

East Brunswick 15, St. Joseph (Met.) 14 (OT): Sean Kelliher led East Brunswick (4-2) with four goals and two assists. Timmy Smith recorded a hat trick and two assists. Tim Gudzak finished with a hat trick and one assist. Thomas Bahmer tallied two goals and two assists. Jack Solimini had two goals and one assist. Michael Thomas added one goal and two assists. Brian McDonald made 10 saves. For St. Joseph (2-3), Max Bischoff led with four goals and four assists. Timmy Day and Parker Hilton each recorded hat tricks. Michael Cardinali added two goals and three assists. Connor Leahy made 10 saves.

Voorhees 5, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 4 (OT): Logan Raposo scored four goals for Voorhees (5-0). Alex Hufford also scored. For Scotch Plains-Fanwood (4-2), Robert Gordon led with one goal and one assist. Noah Costanzo, Jack Brady and Richard Nardone also scored. Riley Guma made 15 saves.

South Brunswick 17, North Brunswick 1: Shane Watts finished with four goals and two assists to pace South Brunswick (3-2). Shane Carneglia recorded a hat trick. Austin Haren tallied two goals and four assists. Ben Butler, Mike Napoli and Jeffery Penney each scored twice. Jon Lanzalotto added one goal and five assists. Justin Brown scored for North Brunswick (1-6).

Old Bridge 17, Edison 4: Justin Fox led Old Bridge (4-1) with five goals and two assists. Patrick Rosiak finished with a hat trick and three assists. Micah Trawick recorded two goals and three assists. Jack Starner added two goals and two assists and Dylan Schwartz scored twice. Bryce Walker had one goal and three assists. Bryson Corbett tallied one goal and two assists. Thomas Francy and Andrew Cherry combined for 17 saves.

Monroe 17, J.P. Stevens 1: For J.P. Stevens (4-2), Sean Seneviratne scored. Robert Distefano had eight ground balls.
