Monroe 8, Perth Amboy 3: Senior right-hander Chris Perdoni went the distance, scattering three hits and fanning nine without allowing an earned run.

Nick Payero, who was stellar on the mound in a victory over St. Joseph on Tuesday, went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Perdoni helped his own cause with a two-run single.

Joe Pedulla collected two hits, a pair of stolen bases and an RBI. Matt Sorrento contributed an RBI double and Eric Heatter added a sacrifice fly to the win.

Shawne Eldridge (RBI single) and catcher Tim Ruckdeschel (two hits) were in on the offense as the Falcons improved to 3-1 in the Red Division to keep pace with defending division champion East Brunswick and South Brunswick.

Senior Will Niven, who led off the seventh with a walk that set up an insurance run, crossed home three times.

Piscataway 10, Edison 6: James Ingram went 2-for-4 with three RBI to pace a balanced offense as the Chiefs (3-2) extended their winning streak to three games after opening the year with consecutive losses to undefeated Woodbridge.

Justin Mckeown (2-for-4 with an RBI), Nick Bucci, Ro Morris (2-for-5) and Jordan Brown each plated a run for Piscataway, which rallied for seven runs in the fourth inning to erase a 5-2 deficit. Ingram and Morris each doubled.

Cleanup batter Chris Corvil drew three walks, stole two bases, scored twice and singled.

Three Piscataway pitchers combined on a six-hitter. The trio allowed just three earned runs as it had to overcome four errors.

Jason Smith went 1-for-3 with a run scored and had Edison’s lone RBI.

Timothy Christian 12, Wardlaw-Hartridge 8: Daniel Lai went 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBI, while teammates Jonathan Thiero (1-for-3 with a double and three runs) and Liam Page (single and two RBI) also contributed offensively as the Tigers (2-3) won their second straight.

Thiero went the distance on the mound for the win. He scattered eight hits, allowed seven earned runs, fanned 10 and walked two. Thiero threw 110 pitches.

Matthew Stefonavic, Michael Melata and Josiah DeSantos each scored twice for Timothy Christian.

JJ Stueck went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored for the Rams. Teammate Sandy Miller singled twice, scored a run and delivered a pair of RBI.

South Brunswick 7, Old Bridge 1: Ryan Moran went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored as the Vikings (4-2) outhit the Knights (3-3) 12-3.

South Brunswick scored five runs in the final two innings to pad their previously slim 2-1 lead. The Vikings overcame an uncharacteristic five errors.

Winning pitcher Julian Cross allowed no earned runs and scattered three hits while going the distance. He fanned four and walked one.

Adam Britton (2-for-4), Chris James (2-for-4 with two runs), Kevin Reyes (2-for-4 with a double and an RBI) and Jordan Trimpert (2-for-3 with a run) made offensive contributions.

Ryan Bradley scored Mike Russo with Old Bridge’s lone run. Teammate Rob Laconti went 2-for-2.

Highland Park 21, Piscataway Tech 2: The Owls scored 10 runs in the first and added five more runs in each of the next two frames.

Ian DeViarte went 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs scored. He finished a homer shy of hitting for the cycle. The Owls (4-0) recorded seven extra-base hits.

The Raiders (0-4) were outhit 16-2. Aiden Weinstein, Liam Roth, Ryan O’Shea, Sam Murphy and Evan Lanaris had two hits apiece for Highland Park.

Winning pitcher Dylan Powell allowed one hit over three innings. He fanned five. Marcello Herzog pitched two innings of one-hit relief.

Kristin Callaway had Piscataway Tech’s lone RBI.

Carteret 5, New Brunswick 2: Michael App improved his personal mark to 2-0 with a complete-game one-hitter.

App fanned 11, walked two and did not allow an earned run. He helped his cause, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Bryan App singled, doubled and plated two runs. Chris Pena cracked a two-run homer in the second inning. Carteret mustered eight hits.

Jonathan Torres took the loss for Zebras (2-2). He allowed five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts over five innings.

Colonia 10, Westfield 4: Frank Lehmann, who entered in relief with two away and the bases loaded to protect a three-run lead in the fourth inning, fanned the first batter he faced at a pivotal juncture of the game.

Colonia, which led 6-3 at the time, outscored the Blue Devils 4-1 over the remaining innings to produce the final margin.

Catcher Anthony Palmisano continued his torrid pace at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple and a double.

Colonia teammate Jason Hilenski went 1-for-3 with two RBI against the Blue Devils (2-3), a traditional Union County power.

Tyler Layton was the starting pitcher for Colonia. He limited Westfield to four runs over three and two thirds innings.

The Patriots improved to 4-3 with their second consecutive win.

Middlesex 11, South River 3: Winning pitcher Tyler Dymond hurled a complete-game, fanning eight, scattering seven hits and walking two batters.

Nick DiMaggio went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Middlesex teammate Mike Schweyher scored three runs, doubled and singled. Jared Venutulo and Matt Carovillano each had a hit and two runs scored for the Blue Jays.

Brandon Szerszen went 2-for-2 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored for the Rams (1-2). Teammate Michael DeSantis singled and scored. Louis Sasso went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI for South River.

South River starting pitcher R.J. Fischer allowed five hits and five runs – only one of which was earned – over five innings. He walked four and struck out two.

The Blue Jays (5-0) scored six runs in the home sixth to build upon their 5-2 lead.

St. Joseph 9, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 0: Right-hander Mike Farr was absolutely brilliant, scattering four hits and striking out nine for a complete-game shutout over the Raiders, which The Star Ledger of Newark earlier this season ranked among the Top 20 teams in the state.

St. Joseph (4-3) rallied for three runs in the fourth and scored three more times in the seventh. The Falcons posted single runs in the first, second and sixth innings. St. Joseph registered 15 hits.

Nick Loffredo went 3-for-5, while teammates Jon Sot and Ross Maertz each doubled twice while combining to score three runs. Mike Velez and Anthony Favor each went 2-for-4 and combined for three runs. Farr helped his own cause with a double and two runs scored.

Brandon Warick, Gabe Mejias and John Fresco each singled as every starter recorded at least one hit apiece. Sophomore infielder Dave Razzano recorded his first varsity hit and RBI in his first varsity at-bat, while senior Connor Esposito registered his first RBI.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood used four pitchers.

Woodbridge 10, A.L. Johnson 6: The Barrons, who led 5-1 entering the home sixth, scored what proved to be five much-needed runs in that half inning as the resilient Crusaders answered with five runs of their own in the top of the seventh to produce the final margin.

Woodbridge (6-0) remained undefeated at starting pitcher Zach Delvalle allowedsix runs (four earned) on seven hits over six and two thirds innings. Delvalle, who fanned six and walked four, exited after throwing 105 pitches. Reliever Justin Silva recorded the game’s final out.

Harry Rutkowski went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI for the Barrons, while teammates Trevor Cykowski and Carlos Marte had two hits apiece.

Josepher Gutierrez contributed a double and two runs to the victory. Darren Gonzalez and Silva had one RBI apiece.
