Mike Murray tossed five scoreless innings, allowing five hits, one walk and striking out seven to lead the Watchung Hills High School baseball team to a 7-2 victory over North Hunterdon.

Junior first baseman Brandon Hylton hit a solo home run in the first inning for the Warriors (2-1) while junior catcher Jeff Poggi hit one of his own in the seventh inning.

Junior right-hander Matt Busher allowed three runs on four hits and two walks and struck out 11 batters for North Hunterdon (0-2). Trailing 4-0, the Lions scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Peter Kane and an RBI triple by Grant Sible to cut the deficit to 4-2.

Montgomery 3, Hillsborough 2: Tommy Denlinger hit a two-out RBI single in the fourth to give Montgomery (2-0) the lead and the win. Palmer Smith pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowed one hit and struck out two. Matt Ryan went 2-for-3 with a double and one run scored. Michael Patrizio and Avancha Vikram also scored. Ryan McKenna doubled and had one RBI. For Hillsborough (1-1), Ryan Watson and Kyle Wengryn each had one RBI. Lucas Norfleet and Chris Scala scored.

Bridgewater-Raritan 3, Ridge 1: Greg Verano allowed one earned run on three hits and struck out four in six innings to earn the win for Bridgewater-Raritan (3-0). Nick Costanzo went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Mike Capra went 2-for-2 with a home run. For Ridge (1-1), Sean Spina had an RBI and Jack Peacock scored. Ryan Gogerty doubled.

Pingry 9, Bound Brook 0: Joe Possumato pitched a complete-game two-hitter and struck out 13 for Pingry (2-0). He also scored twice and had one RBI. Jack Laurent finished 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Clyde Leef had two RBI and two runs scored. Max Scherzer went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Eric Dubecky tripled for Bound Brook (0-2) and Jake Bruder singled.

Gill St. Bernard's 8, South Hunterdon 1: Jack Petraitis earned the win for Gill St. Bernard's (1-1) after he allowed one earned run on four hits and struck out six in 5 1/3 innings. Ryan Morash went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Cameron Miller went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. AJ Donofrio finished with three RBI. For South Hunterdon (0-2), Robbie Rose doubled and scored a run. Leo Andreoli had the RBI.

North Plainfield 5, Belvidere 2: Terrance Jones allowed three hits and struck out eight in six innings for North Plainfield (2-0). Christian Wieczorek went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Steve Merrill finished 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Rutgers Prep 6, Bernards 3: Anthony Kuzmenko went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored for Rutgers Prep (1-0). John Langenfield finished 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and one run scored. He also pitched two innings of one-hit relief and struck out two. Andrew Crystal also went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and one run scored.

Middlesex 7, Bishop Ahr 2: Mike Salerno went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored for Middlesex (2-0). Tyler Dymond doubled and scored a run. Jarrett May finished with one RBI and one run scored. Andrew Brazicki doubled and scored a run for Bishop Ahr (0-2).

Plainfield 16, Roselle 1 (5 innings): Eddy Acosta earned the win for Plainfield (1-1) after he pitched a no-hitter and struck out five in 2 2/3 innings. Acosta also finished 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run scored. Brendan Williams allowed one run and struck out one in  1 1/3 innings. Skyler Frye went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored. Baldwin Gomez had three RBI and two runs scored. Waldy Arias scored three runs.

BOYS LACROSSE

Bridgewater-Raritan 8, Pingry 7: Dan MacKinney scored the game-winner for Bridgewater-Raritan (3-0) with 3:24 left in the game. He finished with four goals. Nick Attanasio also scored four goals. Mark Bieda had three assists. Kyle O'Neil made six saves. For Pingry (1-2), Spencer Duryee led with two goals and one assist. Jake Moss and Drew Brosie each scored twice. George Enman added three assists. David Metzger and Frankie Dillon combined for nine saves.

Hunterdon Central 5, Rutgers Prep 4: Sean Parker led Hunterdon Central (1-2) with two goals and two assists. Brian Mitrow, Dylan McKenna and Justin Dunleavy also scored. For Rutgers Prep (0-3), Kevin O'Hara scored twice. Dan Varga added one goal and one assist. Tre Allen also scored.

Ridge 11, North Hunterdon 9: Bryce Kirkwood recorded two goals and one assist to lift Ridge (3-0). Will Burckley and Ted Kapp each scored twice. Sean Eversen added one goal and two assists. For North Hunterdon (1-3), Connor McMahon finished with a hat trick and two assists. Bobby Brennan tallied a hat trick. Jared McMahon chipped in four assists.

J.P. Stevens 14, Union Catholic/Wardlaw-Hartridge 3: Robert Distefano finished with seven goals, one assist and 14 ground balls for J.P. Stevens (3-0). Sean Seneviratne tallied a hat trick and 13 ground balls and Baha Alasmar scored twice. Chuck Youse added one goal and three assists. Jack Sartor scored all three goals for Union Catholic/Wardlaw-Hartridge (0-1). Lucas Danchisko added an assist.

Hillsborough 11, Immaculata 7: Tim Yost recorded four goals and four assists to pace Hillsborough (2-1). Carson Venis tallied two goals and two assists. Chris Santa Barbara scored twice and Colin Purdy added a goal. Matthew DiPietro and Steve Dwyer each had two goals and one assist for Immaculata (1-1). Tommy Palen scored twice. Conner Entwistle chipped in one goal and one assist.

East Brunswick 17, Bishop Ahr 4: Madelyn Farrell scored five goals to pace East Brunswick (1-2). Caitlyn Robinson recorded a hat trick and one assist. Emma Perone finished with a hat trick and Angini Ragumar scored twice. Kim Calix scored twice for Bishop Ahr (0-2). Julia Fedor and Alexa Romanella also scored.

Ridge 20, North Hunterdon 13: Mena Loescher led Ridge (4-0) with five goals and one assist. Georgia Post recorded four goals and two assists. Emma Wightman finished with four goals and one assist and Grace Kirkwood scored four goals. Bea Behrins and Kerry Cassidy each tallied one goal and one assist. Bailey Aaron also scored. For North Hunterdon (2-2), Nicole Perez led with seven goals and two assists. Jen DuFresne registered a hat trick and Katie Fullowan scored twice.

Immaculate Heart 8, Westfield 6: Sydney Paoletti scored twice for Westfield (2-2). Hannah Liddy finished with one goal and two assists. Lila Hutchins, Olivia Shields and Carley Farrella also scored.

Colts Neck 18, Old Bridge 12: Abby Zimmerlink finished with seven goals and two assists for Old Bridge (1-1). Lindsay Shafer recorded one goal and two assists. Shina Ghetia, Julia Sandor, Emily Lopes and Erin Handy also scored.

Gov. Livingston 12, Pequannock 9: Lindsay Gerrato led Governor Livingston (2-1) with a hat trick and one assist while Riley Jankowski recorded a hat trick. Meryl Schaffer tallied two goals and one assist. Jenna Attanasio and Elena Gerrato each scored twice.
