Boys Basketball: This week's HNT/GMC Top 10

Here is the latest Home News Tribune and Greater Middlesex Conference Top 10 for boys basketball. Records are through Wednesday.

1. Linden (14-5): Linden, which was named the fourth seed in the upcoming Union County Tournament, picked up wins over Trenton Catholic and Quality Education (N.C.) last week but fell to Roselle Catholic on Tuesday. Mikey Watkins reached the 1,000-point milestone against Quality Education and is averaging 12.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. The Tigers play Elizabeth on Thursday, will face North Bergen on Saturday at Kean University and Pope John on Sunday at East Orange before a rematch with the Patrick School on Tuesday.

2. St. Joseph (17-3): St. Joe's has stretched its win streak to six games, with wins over Greater Middlesex Conference Red Division opponents Perth Amboy, South Brunswick and Old Bridge last week. The Falcons have their last regular-season game against Montgomery on Thursday and will most likely be named the top seed in the GMC Tournament on Friday. 

3. Carteret (16-4): Carteret won its only game this week, a victory over South River on Monday. The Ramblers have a big test Thursday night against Rahway in their last regular-season game before the GMC and state tournaments. 

4. Piscataway (17-3): Piscataway is in the midst of a five-game win streak, with its last three wins coming against Red Division foes. The Chiefs have their last regular-season game on Monday against Franklin. 

5. Old Bridge (15-6): Old Bridge has gone 2-1 in its last three games, with wins over Monroe and South Plainfield and a loss to St. Joseph. The Knights have completed their regular-season schedule and will likely garner one of the top seeds in the GMC Tournament. 

6. Bishop Ahr (16-4): Bishop Ahr has won its last four games since a loss to Old Bridge on Jan. 30. The Trojans, which averaged 68 points per game during those four wins, have completed their regular season schedule. 

7. Rahway (18-1): Rahway suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of New Providence last Friday but bounced back with wins over Oratory Prep and Scotch Plains-Fanwood. The Indians face Carteret on Thursday and will open the Union County Tournament at home against Dayton on Saturday.

8. Colonia (11-8): Colonia has won its last three games against New Brunswick, North Brunswick and Edison, snapping a streak in which it went 1-7. The Patriots have their last regular-season game against South Plainfield on Thursday.

9. Sayreville (14-6): Sayreville has won its last two games after a four-game losing streak. The Bombers face Arts in their last regular-season game  Thursday.

10. Edison (12-10): Edison has gone 1-2 in its last three games after a four-game win streak. The Eagles face Spotswood in their last regular season game on Friday.
