BASEBALL

North Plainfield 7, Bound Brook 0: Bruce Weyand threw a no-hitter and struck out 14 batters for North Plainfield (1-0). Antwan Barbour drive in two runs while Daniel Spontak went 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Hillsborough 2, Hunterdon Central 1 (8 innings): Kyle Wengryn went 2-for-4 and drove in the game-winning run with a RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning for Hillsborough (1-0). Chris Coutts allowed one run, three hits and two walks and struck out four batters over five innings for the Raiders. Peter Woltersdorf allowed one unearned run, seven hits and no walks while striking out nine over seven innings for Hunterdon Central (0-1).

SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Monday's varsity softball results

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 9, Westfield 3: Timmy Geiseel tossed a complete game and allowed three runs on eight hits and three walks with seven strikeouts for Scotch Plains-Fanwood (1-0). Colin McAlindin went 2-for04 with three RBi and one run while Peter Yarem went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI for the Raiders. Kobi Wolf drove in one run for Westfield (0-1).

Ridge 4, North Hunterdon 2: James Crowley tossed four innings and gave up one run, one hit and three walks while striking out seven for Ridge (1-0). Anthony Roti drove in two runs and Andrew Lusardi added one RBI for the Red Devils. Matt Busher went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Justin Johnson hit a solo home run for North Hunterdon (0-1).

Bridgewater-Raritan 3, Immaculata 2: Jeff Praml tossed a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out 10 for Bridgewater-Raritan (2-0). Nick Costanzo and Corey Karnila each drove in one run for the Panthers. Nick Egnatuk went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run for Immaculata (0-1).

Montgomery 6, Franklin 4: Jesse Gerdes went 2-for-4 and Ryan McKenn drove in two runs for Montgomery (1-0). Matt Ryan, Nick Pascale and Michael Patrizio each drove in one run for the Cougars. Kenneth Millman, AJ Gordon and Sohil Patel each drove in one run for Franklin (0-1).

Voorhees 7, Delaware Valley 4: Matt Kroll tallied one homer and three RBI while Kendall Pierson went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI for Voorhees (1-0). Kyle Kokoskie went 2-for-4 with one run scored while Marcus Celiano and Aiden Nodoro each drove in one run for the Vikings. Sean Hanczaryk went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI for Delaware Valley (0-2).

Bernards 14, Gill St. Bernard’s 4 (5 innings): Robbie Holmes hit a grand slam and finished 3-for-4 with nine RBI and one triple to pace Bernards (1-0). Phil Mahlik hit his first career home run to lead off the game and finished 2-for-2 with four runs scored. Jack Evleth went 2-for-2 with two runs while Timmy Lallias tallied three runs and two RBI.

Pingry 9, South Hunterdon 0: Jack Laurent, Joe Possumato and Mike Weber combined for 17 strikeouts and allowed only two hits and zero walks for Pingry (1-0). Possumato went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs, Zach Keller went 2-for-3 with one RBI and oen run and Nate Hefner went 3-for-4 with one run for Big Blue. Brandon Gares went 2-for-2 for South Hunterdon (0-1).

Somerset Tech 7, Academy for Urban Leadership Charter 7: Ryan Kelco went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs while Brian Turck went 2-for-5 with one RBI for Somerset Tech. Christian Melendez scored three runs and John Sala drove in two runs.

Belvidere 13, Manville 3: Gabriel Van Buren, Jake Bentz and Michael Tyle each went 1-for-3 with one RBI for Manville (0-1). John Sharbaugh went 2-for-4 with one run scored for the Mustangs.

GIRLS LACROSEE

South Plainfield 18, Bishop Ahr 10: Ashley Veliz went for seven goals and Olivia O’Leary added five goals to lead South Plainfield. Haley Olsen posted a goal and 11 ground balls for the Tigers (1-0). Kim Calix scored eight goals for Bishop Ahr (0-1).

Westfield 9, Mountain Lakes 6: Hannah Liddy, Carley Farrella and Natalie Bond each scored two goals to fuel Westfield. Bond added five draw controls in the victory, while Sydney Paoletti notched five ground balls.

Bernards 15, Phillipsburg 2:  Paige Petty erupted for five goals and an assist, and Hannah Christian added three goals and an assist to send Bernards (3-0). Laurel McHale chipped in two goals and two assists for the Mountaineers.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 16, Millburn 6: Sabrina DiLollo scored four goals and Erica Paprocki, Anna Ciarrocca, Kerry Regan and Ambert Bertz each added two goals for Scotch Plains-Fanwood.

New Providence 15, Livingston 8: Kaitlyn Cumiskey tallied four goals and an assist, and Sam Scott added three goals and four assists to spark New Providence (2-1). Iris Kaloshi contributed three goals and two assists for the Pioneers.

Hamilton West 12, J.P. Stevens 11: Harshita Jain led J.P. Stevens (0-1) with five goals. Maleeha Khan recorded a hat trick. Dina Yeard scored twice and Morgan Dearing added a goal.

Ridge 14, Saddle River Day 13: Bea Behrins finished with four goal and one assist as Ridge improved to 3-0. Emma Wightman recorded a hat trick. Mena Loescher tallied two goals and four assists. Grace Kirkwood scored twice.

BOYS LACROSSE

North Hunterdon 7, Notre Dame 4: Sean McQuade paced North Hunterdon (1-2) with three goals, one assist and seven ground balls. Jared McMahon scored twice while Bobby Brennan and Connor McMahon each scored once for the Lions.
