Linden boys basketball earns top seed in Union County Tournament

The Linden High School boys basketball team was named the No. 1 seed in the Union County Tournament on Tuesday.

The Tigers (15-2), which fell to Roselle Catholic in the UCT semifinals last season, earned a bye into the quarterfinals, along with second-seeded Patrick School, third-seeded Roselle Catholic and No. 4 St. Mary (Eliz.).

The first round will be played on Saturday at the site of the higher seed, while the second round will follow on Feb. 15. The quarterfinals will be Feb. 18, and the semifinals are slated for  at 6  and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21  at Kean University. The final is 6 p.m. Feb. 25 at Kean.

13-Summit at 12-Elizabeth; 14-Roselle at 11-Plainfield; 15-Hillside at 10-Rahway; 16-Cranford at 9-Johnson; 17-Governor Livingston at 8-Union; 18-New Providence at 7-Westfield; 19-Oratory Prep at 6-Scotch Plains-Fanwood; Koinonia/Dayton winner at 5-Union Catholic.
