Indoor Track: Ridge, Hunterdon Central claim Skyland Conference Championships
The Ridge girls and Hunterdon Central boys indoor track teams won titles at the Skyland Conference Championships on Saturday.
Ridge took first with 79 points, North Hunterdon finished in second with 53 and Montgomery was third with 41.
Brooke Fazio won the 400 meter dash in 59.04 for the Red Devils, while Catherine Giuseffi took the 800 meter run in 2:19.11. Jessica Creedon won two events, winning the 55 meter hurdles in 8.76 seconds and the high jump, clearing 5-6.
Ridge also won the 4x400 meter relay in 4:07.16.
For North Hunterdon, Elena DiMarcello won two events, taking the 1600 meter run in 5:10.14 and the 3200 meter run in 11:10.16. Pingry's Julia Dannenbaum won the pole vault, clearing 11-6 and Franklin's Naomi Amadi won the shot put with a throw of 38-6.25.
On the boys side, Hunterdon Central took the Skyland Conference Championship, holding off Montgomery 74-55. Franklin was third with 48 points.
Justin Cornetta won the 1600 meter run in 4:23.84 and David Scheier won the 400 meter dash in 50.65 for the Red Devils. Hunterdon Central also won the 4x400 meter relay in 3:29.75
North Hunterdon's Ray Sellaro won the 3200 meter run in 9:39.82, Montgomery's Ryan Cashman won the 55 meter dash in 6.57 and Will Phinney of Ridge took first in the 800 meter run in 1:59.16.
In the high jump, Matthew Rizzi of Watchung Hills took first after clearing 6-2, Bridgewater-Raritan's Brandon Kong won with a jump of 14-0 and CJ Licata of Gill St. Bernard's won the shot put with a throw of 60 feet.
