South Brunswick 59, New Brunswick 37: Senior point guard Amber Brown scored her 1,000th career point and had 22 for the game to lead South Brunswick at the Brunswick Classic at East Brunswick. The 5-foot-9 Brown needed 20 points to reach 1,000. She scored four at halftime, but exploded in the second half and hit a free throw with about a minute and a half into the fourth quarter to get the milestone. The game was stopped for a brief ceremony with her family, in which she received flowers. Brown is a four-year starter who had played small forward/shooting guard. This season, she switched to point guard because of an injury. South Brunswick coach Jeff Johnson called her "selfless" and "a good team player."

Brown has averaged scoring in double digits every season. Additionally, she led the Vikings in scoring the past three seasons and in rebounding the last two years.

"It's just been a pleasure to coach her the last four years, and we hope that we finish with a really good season," Johnson said. "She's just playing great right now."
