FIRST TEAM

LUCIANA ZULLO

School: Hunterdon Central

Position: Forward

Highlights: The University of South Carolina-commit and the Courier News All-Area Girls Soccer Player of the Year helped the Red Devils capture their first Group IV title in school history with 14 goals and 17 assists.

NATALIA RAMIREZ

School: The Pingry School

Position: Forward

Highlights: The small speedster proved all year that size doesn’t matter as she was impossible to deal with on the counter attack. The sophomore led the team in scoring and assists with 17 goals and five assists.

ALEXA FERREIRA

School: Watchung Hills

Position: Midfielder

Highlights: After two years of injuries, the Rutgers University-commit was able to stay healthy and produced all season long as she netted 21 goals and 17 assists.

MELANIE CUNHA

School: Watchung Hills

Position: Midfielder

Highlights: Cunha led the Warriors in scoring with 24 goals and added 11 assists. Her stellar play helped the Watchung Hills capture this year’s Somerset County Tournament title.

CHRISTINA RODGERS

School: Scotch Plains-Fanwood

Position: Midfielder

Highlights: The Raiders finished it season undefeated and added another Union County Tournament title with remarkable play in the middle of the field led by the Providence College-commit, who finished the year with 14 goals and 15 assists.

TAYLOR MORGAN

School: Westfield

Position: Midfielder

Highlights: The University of Alabama-commit used her speed and incredible dribbles to separate from defenders. Her offensive skills helped lead the team in scoring and assists as she netted 12 goals and tallied nine assists.

SOPHIE BRAUSE

School: Scotch Plains-Fanwood

Position: Midfielder

Highlights: The James Madison University-commit was a force on the offensive end as she led the team in assists with 15. Brause scored six goals during the season and came up huge in the Union County Tournament final as she assisted on the overtime game-winning goal.

BRIE PAVOL

School: Hunterdon Central

Position: Defender/Midfielder

Highlights: The senior spent the later part of the season with the tough task of shutting down the opponent’s best player. Her speed and relentless effort made her one of the state’s best defenders while also contributing on the offensive end with 11 goals.

SARAH HAZARD

School: Hunterdon Central

Position: Midfielder/Defender

Highlights: The Bucknell University-commit was a force all season long and made the small plays that didn’t show up in the stat sheet. As a team captain, she anchored a remarkable midfield team and helped the Red Devils capture its first state title in program’s history.

ALLY FRIEDMAN

School: Ridge

Position: Defender

Highlights: The Red Devils enter the  Group IV final having posted five consecutive shutouts thanks to Friedman’s stellar defensive efforts. With a stout defense, Ridge captured its second straight North 2 Group IV sectional title.

LIZZIE BRUCIA

School: Westfield

Position: Goalkeeper

Highlights: The University  of Georgia-commit was stout between the pipes where she racked up 45 saves. The stingy defense posted 15 shutouts to lead the Blue Devils to an undefeated season.
