Outlook: The Terriers have high expectations for this season, but in a brutal division and with a tough schedule, they are taking the season one day at a time. The team is putting one good practice after another in the books and are looking forward to seeing what they are capable of.

HUNTERDON CENTRAL

Coach: Jon Cantagallo-Rohm, third season

Last year: 18-4, 5-1 in conference

District/Region: 17/5

Probable lineup: 106 - Grant Bloch (Fr.) or Anthony Romaniello (Fr.); 113 - Jack Bauer (So., 30-10); 120 - Hunter Graf (Jr., 35-8, 66-17 career); 120/126 - Pasquale Vizzoni (So., 8-3); 126 - Peter Nace (Sr., 25-6, 93-19 career); 132/138 - Bryce Hall (Sr., 17-10, 27-33 career); 132 - Vincent Romaniello (So., 27-11); 138/145 - Mark Dellavalle (Sr., 10-10, 12-21 career); 145/152 - Kevin Ciresa (Jr., 30-8, 47-26 career); 152 - Chris Taylor (Sr., 13-9, 29-48 career); 160 - Dan Furmato (So., 6-9); 170/182 - Reese Young (Jr., 3-1); 182 - Michael Iodice (Sr., 32-7, 60-15 career); 195 - Lukas Bakerian (Fr.); 220 - Victor Lacombe (Sr., 35-5, 49-13 career); 220/285 - Angelo Crespo (Jr., 13-10 career); 285 - Ryan Joyce (So., 0-1).

Outlook: The Red Devils are primed for a strong season after returning 10 starters from a team that won 18 matches last season, which includes six state qualifiers in Bauer, Graf, Ciresa, Iodice, Lacombe and Nace. Bauer, Graf, Nace and Hall will lead the light weights, while freshmen Bloch and Anthony Romaniello and sophomore Vizzoni will solidify and add depth. The middle weights from 132-160 will be filled by a solid group of returners, including Vincent Romaniello (5/6 in Region 5) and state qualifier Ciresa. Furmato had extensive experience at the varsity level as a freshman and Dellavalle and Taylor both had double-digit varsity wins. State medalist Lacombe (5th at 220), state qualifier Iodice and returner Crespo will be the anchor in the upper weights, and will be joined by junior Young and freshman Bakerian. With depth and experience throughout the lineup, Hunterdon Central will be looking to win the Central Group V sectional title and battle for a state title. The team will also look to repeat as champions in the newly realigned District 17, where it has won four titles in the last five years.

NORTH HUNTERDON

Coach: Tim Flynn, eighth season (101-42)

Last year: 9-10

District/Region: 15/4

Key losses: Derek Ciavarro, Tyler Gapas, Wyatt Vrancken, Carmine Ricciardi.

Probable lineup: 285 - Charlie Tordik (Sr., 28-9, 1st at District 17, Region 5 qualifier); 145/152 - Cole Marra (Sr., 27-11, 1st at District 17, Region 5 qualifier); 160 - Nick Luberto (Sr., 7-18); 170 - Matt Gregory (Sr., 3-16) or Anthony Masters (Fr.); 132/138 - Andrew Gapas (Jr., 26-10, 2nd at District 17) or Kyle Anderson (Fr.); 138/145 - Will Hughes (Jr., 7-15); 145/152 - Tucker Kirchberger (Jr., 14-15); 195 - Joe Abbas (Jr., 11-11); 106 - Connor Robinson (So., 10-17); 126/132 - Mikey Wilson (So., 2-4); 120 - Nick House (So.); 170/182 - Noah Quental (Jr.); 113 - Evan Klimas (Fr.); 152 - Jacob Fossett (Fr.).

Outlook: Expectations are different for this team this year because there are a lot of young and inexperience wrestlers. The attitude is to work hard every day and have fun. Last year the Lions had some bad luck, distractions and an overall bad year, but they're looking for their wrestlers to overachieve and it all starts with the right attitudes, from the coaches down to the freshmen. There is some leadership this season, something North Hunterdon hasn't had previously, so the team needs it to be contagious. The strength of the Lions will be in the upper middle weights, but staying healthy will be a challenge. Charlie Tordik, Cole Marra, and Andrew Gapas are the guys with the most success on the team and they were all only a match or two from the state tournament. They worked hard in the offseason and want to have a solid year.

VOORHEES

Coach: Eric Hall, seventh season

Last year: 16-12, North 2 Group III champions

District/Region: 16/4

Probable lineup: 106 - Aidan Taylor (So.); 113 - Colby Koshinski (Jr., 28-10); 120 - Hunter Rinehart (So., 13-22); 126 - August Heithoff (Sr., 5-10) or Joe Delusant (Fr.); 132 - Colton Riley (Sr., 12-22); 138 - Liam Cutri-French (Sr., 21-14); 145 - Ben Brander (Sr., 11-20) or Matt Brander (So., 3-9); 152 - Brander or Brander; 160 - Michael Fernandes (Sr., 33-4) or Charlie Eberle (So.) or Austin Newarski (So., 0-1); 170 - Fernandes or Eberle or Newarski; 182 - Scott Fernandes (Jr., 28-7) or Colton Curtis (Sr.); 195 - Lewis Fernandes (So., 28-7) or Sam Huff (So., 8-17); 220 - Adam Murdock (Sr., 9-20); 285 - Murdock or Eli Jones (Sr.).

Outlook: Voorhees has a young team this season but returns 12 of 14 varsity starters and should be solid in the upper weights as it competes in a new District (16) and Region (4). The team is hoping to be competitive in the dual meets and get a lot out of the returning wrestlers in terms of what they can do on the mat and the leadership they can provide to the underclassmen. If some of the younger guys can mature quickly, and the Vikings can avoid injury and illness, they're poised to make another run at a sectional title. The Fernandes brothers, Mike, Scott and Lewis, combined for 57 falls last year and should be important factors this season at their respective weight classes.

VALLEY DIVISION

BERNARDS

Coach: David Brothers, 11th season

Outlook: Bernards will be much improved this season with a young but tough group of wrestlers. Wrestlers to watch out for are Villani at 106, Tantleff at 126, Arza at 145, Alex Mastronardi at 152, who won 25 matches last season, Lopez at 170 and Lezme at 182. The Mountaineers are solid and will look to improve as the season wears on.
