Middlesex 42, Highland Park 6: Jared Zimbardo carried six times for a game-high 84 yards and scored his first varsity touchdown as the Blue Jays (6-1) extended their winning streak to five games.

Middlesex amassed 250 rushing yards and took a 42-0 lead on Zimbardo’s scoring jaunt. Devin Lanza, Tom Rau and John Kressbach each had a rushing touchdown for the Blue Jays.

Ahmaad Rawlins had two defensive touchdowns for Middlesex. He returned an interception for six points and returned a fumble to the end zone.

Lanza was Middlesex’s second leading rusher with 76 yards on four carries. Nine Blue Jays had at least one carry and Middlesex scored four touchdowns in the first quarter to build a 28-0 lead.

At halftime, Middlesex honored its 2017 NJSIAA Group I championship baseball team, whose members were presented their championship rings during a ceremony. The game also marked Senior Night for the Blue Jays, who honored all of the upperclassmen in their entire athletics program.

Middlesex, whose lone loss was a 26-20 overtime setback to undefeated and Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division-leading South River, has a bye before playing at Bishop Ahr on Nov. 3.

The Blue Jays entered this weekend’s action with the third most power points in Central Group I.

Highland Park fell to 0-7.
