GMC FOOTBALL: Colonia uses balanced effort in win over J.P. Stevens

Colonia 31, J.P. Stevens 3: Quarterback Taj-Calvin Johnson rushed for a touchdown and threw for a score as the Patriots (5-2) extended their winning streak to three games.

After the ball was snapped over his head, Johnson turned an apparent loss into a huge gain, breaking off a 25-yard scoring run that gave the Patriots a 7-0 lead.

Running back Luke Pero finished with 159 yards on 18 carries. He scored on a 68 yard run in the fourth quarter to help Colonia extend its margin to 24-3.

Anthony Palmisano had a 28-yard touchdown reception and Gianfranco Tiseo booted a 24-yard field goal for Colonia.

Mateo Campbell closed out the scoring with a 66 yard interception return for a touchdown.

The Hawks, who trailed 10-0 at the half and 17-0 in the third quarter, closed the gap to 17-3 on a 28-yard field goal.

J.P. Stevens (1-5) has dropped three straight.
