GMC Boys Soccer Top 10

1. North Brunswick (17-3-2): North Brunswick outlasted all the other teams in the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament and won its first championship title since 2005 with a 2-1 overtime victory over No. 5 South Brunswick as the No. 10 seed. The Raiders are on a 12-game winning streak and have allowed only eight goals in that span. North Brunswick, the No. 6 seed in the NJSIAA Central Group IV Tournament, defeated South Brunswick again on Monday, winning 4-3 in penalty kicks. The Raiders will travel to No. 3 Marlboro in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

2. South Brunswick (14-7): South Brunswick had a six-game winning streak snapped with the 2-1 overtime loss to North Brunswick in the GMC Tournament final on Saturday. The Vikings were looking for their first championship since 2009. South Brunswick then faced North Brunswick again on Monday in the first round of Central Group IV, and the No. 11 seed saw its season come to an end with a 4-3 shootout loss.

3. South Plainfield (15-6): After losing back-to-back games against Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Carteret, South Plainfield bounced back in the GMC Tournament. The No. 3 seed defeated Piscataway and East Brunswick before falling to North Brunswick 1-0 in the semifinals. The Tigers' season is still alive, as the top seed in Central Group II won their opening round game 2-1 over No. 16 Delaware Valley. South Plainfield will host No. 9 Holmdel on Thursday.

4. Monroe (15-3-1): Monroe saw its GMC Tournament run come to a surprising halt in the first round on Oct. 21 with a 2-1 loss to Sayreville. The Falcons didn't play again until the first round of the Central Group IV Tournament. Monroe, the fourth seed, won its opening round game, 2-0, over No. 13 West Windsor-Plainsboro South and will host No. 5 Trenton in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

5. St. Joseph (11-7-2): St. Joseph had a five-game win streak snapped with an overtime loss to South Brunswick in the GMC Tournament semifinals on Oct. 27. The Falcons haven't played since, having earned a bye into the South Non-Public A quarterfinals as the No. 5 seed. St. Joseph will travel to No. 4 Bishop Eustace on Thursday.

6. Old Bridge (12-5-2): Old Bridge had a six-game win streak snapped with a shocking loss to Edison in the first round of the GMC Tournament. The Knights bounced back with a 3-2 overtime win over seventh-seeded New Brunswick in the opening round of Central Group IV. Old Bridge, the No. 10 seed, will host No. 15 Manalapan in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

7. New Brunswick (12-5-2): New Brunswick closed out the season going 1-3 in its final four games. After a stunning exit in the first round of the GMC Tournament, the Zebras defeated J.P. Stevens 6-3, but then fell to No. 10 Old Bridge in the first round of the Central Group IV Tournament.

8. Spotswood (13-5): Spotswood had lost three in a row before starting the state tournament. The No. 5 seed in Central Group II, the Chargers opened with a 4-2 win over No. 12 Voorhees. Spotswood will host No. 13 Rumson-Fair Haven in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

9. East Brunswick (8-10-1): East Brunswick saw its season come to an end with a 1-0 loss to top-seeded Hunterdon Central in the opening round of Central Group IV. The Bears advanced to the GMC Tournament quarterfinals before losing two in a row to close out the season.

10. South River (14-4-1): South River has gone 4-1 in its last five games, falling to South Brunswick in the first round of the GMC Tournament. The Rams have won three in a row since then, outscoring opponents 12-2 with two shutouts. The No. 4 seed in Central Group I, South River won its opening round match against No. 13 Point Pleasant Beach 2-0 and will host No. 5 Bound Brook in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
