East Brunswick goalie Saba Sarwar leaps to make the stop against Piscataway on Tuesday.

1. East Brunswick (9-2-1)Last week No. 1: Despite losing their first two games of the season to Monroe and South Brunswick this week, the Bears remain at the top of our rankings. With a matchup against Piscataway on Friday, the Bears will look to bolster their case to be named the top seed in the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament.

2. Old Bridge (7-3-1)Last week No. 2: The Knights claimed sole possession of second place in the Red Division with a 2-1 comeback victory over now third-place Piscataway on Saturday. At this rate, Old Bridge seems like the likely second-seed in the GMC Tournament.

3. Piscataway (7-3-1)Last week No. 3: The Chiefs notched impressive victories over Edison and South Brunswick early in the week before falling to Old Bridge for the second time this season on Saturday. Piscataway is set to play first-place East Brunswick on Friday.

4. South Brunswick (5-5-1)Last week No. 5: After getting shutout by Piscataway on Thursday, the Vikings handed East Brunswick their second loss of the season with a 1-0 shutout victory on Saturday. Adrianna Mouzakis leads South Brunswick with eight goals.

5. Sayreville (10-1)Last week No. 4: Extending their winning streak to seven games, the Bombers just keep on winning and haven’t conceded a goal in the month of October. The Bombers will have their first-place mojo tested with a White Division showdown against second-place Bishop Ahr on Thursday.

6. Bishop Ahr (9-2)Last week No. 6: The Trojans lost only their second game of the season on Saturday to Hunterdon Central. Bishop Ahr will look to supplant Sayreville at the top of the White Division as well as avenge its 2-0 loss to the Bombers earlier this season on Thursday.

7. Spotswood (8-3)Last week No. 9: Spotswood shutout first-place Metuchen on Friday and outscored its opponents by a combined score of 8-0 last week. A now healthy Erin Thuring has tallied nine goals and five assists through five games this season.

8. Metuchen (9-3)Last week No. 7: The Bulldogs’ eight-game winning streak came to an end on Friday with a 2-0 loss to second-place Spotswood. Metuchen is set to play a surging Red Division opponent in Monroe on Thursday. Mya Stolarski leads Metuchen with 15 goals and 10 assists.

9. Woodbridge (9-3)Last week No. 8: Woodbridge’s current five-game winning streak will be tested this week with a matchup against Bishop Ahr set for Monday and a bout against first-place Sayreville on Tuesday. Gabby D’Emilio leads the Barrons with 15 goals.

10. Monroe (4-7-1)Last week unranked: After a troubling start to the season, the Falcons are starting to hit their stride, having won three of their last four games. Monroe handed first-place and top-ranked East Brunswick its first loss of the season with a convincing 3-1 victory on Thursday.

Dropped from the rankings: Highland Park (11-2)

Also receiving consideration: Edison (8-5), Timothy Christian (11-2-1), South River (10-3-1)

GAME OF THE WEEK

Sayreville at Bishop Ahr, 4:00 p.m. Thursday: The two top teams of the White Division will face off for the second time this season after first-place Sayreville shutout Bishop Ahr 2-0 on September 24. Sayreville looks to remain top dog and to extend its seven-game winning streak while Bishop Ahr looks to claim first place for itself and a little redemption.
