Bound Brook edges Roselle Park to stay undefeated, Voorhees gets in win column

Bound Brook 15, Roselle Park 8: Senior Joe Warren returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown, later adding a 79-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, as Bound Brook stayed undefeated, knocking off another Mid-State 38 Union Division foe. Nigel Wilson converted the 2-point conversion on a run after the first score, before Michael Borja connected on the extra point following the second-quarter tally. Roselle Park got its points on a 60-yard interception return in the second quarter. Joe Solis led the Crusaders (5-0) with nine tackles, Tyson Amaker posted two sacks, and Eric Dubecky recorded two key tackles for losses on the Panthers final drive of the game to secure the victory.

Voorhees 35, North Plainfield 28: George Eberle threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns, and Connor Brown tallied 119 rushing yards on 12 attempts and scored twice as Voorhees won for the first time. Coiln Tong and Will Rodenberger caught touchdown passes for the Vikings (1-4), who were led defensively by William McDonald with 14 tackles and a recovered fumble. North Plainfield dropped its fourth straight and fell to 1-4.

Delaware Valley 27, Bernards 12: Jeremy Hartman caught a 19 yard pass from quarterback Jared Pershyn on a 4th-and-9 in the first quarter, and the Terriers (1-3) rolled from there. In the second quarter, just four plays after an interception by Sean Lessig, Pershyn hooked up with Matt Donnelly on a 46-yard pass. Bernards (3-3) got on the scoreboard in the third quarter when quarterback Steve Gribben threw a 58-yard touchdown pass to Matt Tantleff, then hit Tantleff again with a 77-yard pass to climb within 20-12. Delaware Valley sealed the game when Donnelly scored on an 85-yard kick return.

Cranford 40, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 14: Dwight Lawlor and Isaiah Stewart both scored touchdowns for Scotch Plains-Fanwood (0-5). Lawlor caught six passes for 118 yards and one touchdown, while Stewart caught three passes for 19 yards and one touchdown. Alex Oslislo rushed 16 times for 125 yards. Quarterback Cooper Heisey was 16-of-30 for 221 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Max Toll connected on two extra points.

Phillipsburg 42, Watchung Hills 14: Zahveae Thomas and Nick Ugarte scored for Watchung Hills (0-5). Brian Puccio connected on both extra points.

Elizabeth 26, Hunterdon Central 7: David Scheier scored on an 11-yard pass from Christian Shaw in the second quarter for Hunterdon Central (2-3). Derek Scott kicked the extra point.

Summit 58, Governor Livingston 21: Will Nicholson rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns for Governor Livingston, but the Highlanders (2-2) couldn’t overcome undefeated Summit (5-0). Billy Qu paced GL’s defense with 10 tackles.

Immaculata 27, Warren Hills 6: Nathan Barnett ran for a score and threw for another, and RJ Thornburg rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown to fuel Immaculata. Michael Colantuono added a 56-yard interception return for a touchdown for the Spartans (3-2).

Belvidere 20, Manville 14: Shane Demeter scored on a six-yard touchdown run and TJ Caswell returned an interception for a score, but Manville’s three-game winning streak was snapped and the Mustangs fell to 3-2.
