The Metuchen High School football team endured its second consecutive shutout and was blanked for the third time in the last four games as the Bulldogs dropped a 37-0 decision to Keyport on Saturday.
Turnovers plagued Metuchen early. After Zach Walker blocked a punt, Joseph Kay-Flagg recovered the pigskin in the end zone for a 7-0 lead. Christian Smith then returned an interception 40 yards, setting up Greg Robinson for a 33-yard touchdown run that gave the Red Raiders a 14-0 lead.
The victory was the fourth straight for Shore Conference representative Keyport (6-1) over a Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division school. The loss was the fifth straight for Metuchen (1-5).
Metuchen trailed 23-0 at halftime and 30-0 after the third quarter.
