Girls Soccer Roundup for Thursday, Sept. 29

Westfield 3, New Providence 0: Carly Bechtloff saw the back of the net twice as Westfield (9-0-1) remained undefeated. Senior Taylor Morgan added a goal while Melina McDevitt finished the match with two assists. Hannah Liddy also added an assist while Caitlin Amman saved one shot between the pipes. For New Providence (1-8),  Amanda Maurer racked up eight saves.

Woodbridge 2, Colonia 1: Olivia Gattone​ and Anjanie Gilzean​ both scored one goal as Woodbridge (7-3) outlasted its' rival Colonia (4-6). Barron's goalkeeper Jordan Vazquez recorded five saves. Ally Poulakowski put the Patriots on the board in the 78th minute with a goal off of an assist by Seaerra Michalsky. Kelly Silva racked up 15 saves while in net for Colonia.

East Brunswick 3, Old Bridge 0: East Brunswick (8-0-1) scored three times in the second half to remain undefeated, led by Katrina Nguyen-Demary who tallied two goals. Sabria Glasgow added one goal for the Bears while Lauren Krinsky earned the shutout with four saves. Nicole Carbone made four saves for Old Bridge (5-3-1).

Watchung Hills 3, Pope John 2: Watchung Hills improved to 7-2 as it held off a late rally by Pope John (6-2). Melanie Cunha netted two goals while Lindsay Wolf added one goal and one assist.  Warriors goalkeeper Kaylee Donnelly was busy between the pipes as she finished with 10 saves.

Bernards 2, Somerville 0: Bernards (4-5) upset Somerville (6-1), handing the Pioneers its' first loss of the season. Claudia Prandoni scored the first goal nine minutes into the match as snuck one pass the goal keeper off of an assist by Kate Brito. In the second half, Prandoni earned an assist as she found Makenna Davis for the score with ten minutes left in regulation. Susan Oberschmidt racked up 10 saves while in net for the Mountaineers.

Mount St. Mary 3, Immaculata 1: ​Alaina Parisella led Mount St. Mary with two goals as the Mount Lions improved to 6-1-1 on the season. Kelly Kacani added one goal while Emma Bedell, Katherine Sartor and Jennifer Cappucci each earned one assist. Nicole Kaplan scored for Immaculata (1-5-1) while Michelle Antico finished with an assist.

Rutgers Prep 6, Bound Brook 0: Sophie Thellmann led Rutgers Prep (5-2-1) with two goals. Taylor Williams tallied one goal and two assists while McKayla Mottola and Micaela Kraker both added one goal. Macey Mento contributed with one goal and one assist. Goalkeeper Niya Parikh made three saves as the Argonauts shut out Bound Brook (1-6-1).

North Plainfield 4, Manville 0: Nikita Forrester saw the back of the net twice as North Plainfield improved to 2-4. Ashley Atubi and Destine Alarcon both added one goal and one assist. Jocelyn Ramos and Steffany Marroquin contributed with one assist apiece while Emely Velastegui was stout between the pipes saving six shots as the Canucks shutout Manville (1-7-1).

​North Hunterdon 6, Delaware Valley 3: ​Both teams scored three goals in the first half but North Hunterdon (6-2) shutout Delaware Valley (1-8-1) in the second half. Rebecca Fluchel led the Lions with one goal and two assists while Nina Bussanich added one goal and one assist. Lindsey Eugenio, Alicia Giordano, Harrel Kristina and Madeline Wolf finished with one goal apiece.Rebecca Fontana added an assist. For the Terriers, Kayley Brooks and Jessica Ludwig each finished with one goal and one assist. Amanda Lebelt added a goal while Brianna Schneider finished with nine saves.

Calvary Christian 2, South Amboy 0: Karissa Akselson scored two goals in the second half as Calvary Christian improved to 5-2. Kayla Lombardi had a great game between the pipes as she finished with nine saves. South Amboy (1-10) goalkeeper Sarah Knapik finished with two saves.

Belvidere 6, South Hunterdon 0: Brieann Opdyke and Payton Jean both netted two goals as Belvidere (5-1) shutout South Hunterdon (5-3).

Monroe 2, South Brunswick 0: Gennyka Liebenthal led Monroe (2-6-1) with two goals. Emma Bodmer earned the shutout with six saves against South Brunswick (4-4-1). Sydney Schneider made two saves for the Vikings.

Kent Place 7, Plainfield 0: ​Plainfield falls to 2-7 as it was shutout against Kent Place (5-3). The Cardinals gave up three goals in the first half and four scores in the second half.

Piscataway 2, J.P. Stevens 0: Kaitlyn Zeeb and Lela Allen led the way for Piscataway (5-2-1) with one goal apiece. Isabella Caracta and Hunter Samuel both added one assist while Dana Ogilvie made two saves while in net for the Chiefs. For J.P. Stevens (1-9), Sarah Zimmer made five saves.
