300 rabbits, guinea pigs and a calf found at Hunterdon home

BETHLEHEM - About 300 rabbits, some in cages full of feces, were found at Blackbrook Road home on Friday.

A calf was also found in the basement of the home, according to to the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NJSPCA).

No charges have yet been filed.

About 300 rabbits, many in cages filled with feces, were found at a Hunterdon County home on Friday.


The NJSPCA responded to the home after receiving call to its Animal Cruelty Hotline.

Approximately 200 rabbits were found outside in cages full of feces. Another 100 rabbits were found inside the home, according to the NJSPCA. In addition to the rabbits, guinea pigs were also found in the home along with a calf in the basement.

Rescuers begin to take away the 300 rabbits found at a Hunterdon County home on Friday.

All animals have been signed over to the NJSPCA.

Assisting in the removal of the animals were the Hampton Fire Department and Glen Gardner Fire Department.

A rescue squad was called when one of the workers became exhausted.
