Bound Brook's Kyle Frauenheim scored his 1,000th career point on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018.

Bound Brook's Kyle Frauenheim is the most recent player in Somerset County to join the 1,000 point club.

Frauenheim reached the milestone on Thursday with a 13-point performance against Somerville. He was 12 points away heading to the game and scored his 1,000th point with about a minute left.

"It feels great, it was definitely a goal. I was lucky to play with a lot of great players the last few years, and I’ve had great coaches," Frauenheim said. "We lost (Thursday), so towards the end of the game I wasn’t worried about how many points away I was, I knew I was close but we were losing the game so it wasn’t on my mind at all, I was just trying to win the game."

The senior is averaging 14.5 points per game for the Crusaders (9-7) this season. He finished with 17 points in a loss to Immaculata on Saturday.

"At the start of this year a couple of people were asking me if I was close but I didn’t pay any attention, then coach (Anthony Melesurgo) let me know a couple of games before," said Frauenheim, who became the 13th player in Bound Brook history to reach 1,000 points. "I feel that it’s a byproduct of working hard and I’m just trying to get better every day so I can be the best teammates and best player I can possibly be."

Frauenheim, a lineman who helped lead the Bound Brook football team to the NJSIAA Central Group I semifinals, isn't the only player in Somerset County to reach the 1,000 point milestone this season.

Pingry's Mike Weber scored his 1,000th point on Jan. 9 in a 45-44 victory over Belvidere, and North Plainfield's Tony Godwin scored his 1,000th point in a win over Belvidere on Jan. 18.

Dan Pilsbury of Watchung Hills joined the club with a 14-point performance in a victory over Timothy Christian on Jan. 20.

Somerset Tech's Elijah Bowers became the all-time leading scorer with 1,310 points with a 32-point performance with a win over East Brunswick Tech on Jan. 22. Jared Chambliss became the second all-time leading scorer for Immaculata on Saturday night with 1,365 points.
