BOYS BASKETBALL

Delaware Valley 57, Passaic Valley 45: Joe Cansfield had 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists to lift Delaware Valley (3-3) in the seventh place game of the Joe Silver Holiday Tournament at Hillside. Teammate Brandon Bernhardt chipped in 15 points with seven rebounds and Vinny Giordano scored nine points. Jack Skibinski drilled two 3-pointers.

Colonia 41, J.F. Kennedy 27: Connor Bevilacqua scored 10 points (two 3-pointers) to lead Colonia, which had an 18-4 third quarter to open its lead at the LeGrand/Haley Holiday Jubilee. Kristian Chapmann scored nine points as 10 different players scored for the Patriots. Dennis Howard led J.F. Kennedy (0-5) with 10 points and David Silva scored eight points.

North Brunswick 52, South Brunswick 42: Avery Claggett poured in 23 points to lead North Brunswick (2-1), which opened its lead with a 23-9 second quarter at the North Brunswick Classic. Maneet Batra and Chernoh Barrie each added nine points for the Raiders. Devin Strickland led South Brunswick (0-5) with 10 points and Katibu Martin scored nine points.

Bishop Ahr 53, East Brunswick 51: Alex Santiago scored 20 points and had four steals to lead Bishop Ahr (6-1) at the North Brunswick Classic. Rashan Ruff had 12 points, five rebounds and four steals for the Trojans and Jalen Brooks had eight points and eight rebounds. Additionally, Marquise Billingsley grabbed seven rebounds with six points.

Highland Park 55, Hopatcong 43: Connor Mucier poured in 28 points with four 3-pointers to lead Highland Park in the Shello/Santy Christmas Tournament at Faber Elementary School in Dunellen. Three players each added eight points for Highland Park (2-4) in Chad Ghee, Donovan Crawford and Romeo Haskins.

Princeton 46, Montgomery 31: Riley Greene scored nine points for host Montgomery (5-1) in the Cougar Holiday Classic. Kevin Fromelt added nine points and Kyle Howard and Rohan Prakash each scored seven points.

Union Catholic 67, East Orange 46: Jaheim Tanksley scored 19 points as Union Catholic (4-2) won the 55th annual Joe Silver Tournament at Hillside. Robert Miller added 12 points and five assists, while Giovanni Phillip had 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Additionally, Ibn Lynn and Justin Archer each had seven points and rebounds.

Plainfield 55, Wayne Valley 48 (OT): Romey Talley scored 17 points and Dante Porter had 14 points to lead Plainfield to an overtime win at the J.P. Flynn Memorial Tournament at Delbarton. Jalil Lee added seven points.

Middlesex 72, Dunellen 57: Tyler Ha scored 18 points as Middlesex captured the Shello/Santy Christmas Tournament championship at the Faber Elementary School in Dunellen. Jake Robel had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Blue Jays (4-1), while Ahmaad Rawlins had 14 points, six rebounds and three steals and John Dickey added 13 points. Tyje Kelton led Dunellen (3-3) with 18 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and five steals. Nazir Martin added 13 points for the Destroyers and Robert Mitchell and Angel Suarez each scored 10 points.

Faith Christian (PA) 87, North Hunterdon 75 (OT): Nick Guasta had 14 points (four 3-pointers) and nine rebounds in an overtime loss in the Whitehall Holiday Tournament at Whitehall (Pa.). Guasta was named to the all-tournament team. North Hunterdon (3-3) had a 19-10 edge in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Michael DelSantro had 12 points and four steals and Evan Saraceno added 10 points. 

St. Joseph 46, Lenape 44: K-Shawn Schulters scored 18 points as St. Joseph won the Score at the Shore at Southern Regional. Schulters was named the tournament's MVP as the Falcons rallied down the stretch for the victory. Howard McBurnie and Adam Boucher each scored five points in the fourth quarter as the Falcons held a 12-4 edge in the final period. McBurnie finished with nine points and Luke Fresco also had nine points. 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Colonia 36, J.F. Kennedy 28: Caitlyn Hroncich led Colonia with 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals at the LeGrand/Haley Holiday Jubilee. Alexis Banko chipped in eight points and five steals for the Patriots (2-2), while Amaya Martinez put up eight points and five steals. For J.F. Kennedy (0-5), Jaylin Cabrera and Olivia Sims each scored 11 points.

South Brunswick 33, Hillsborough 29: Alexis Adams had 12 points and seven rebounds as host South Brunswick (5-0) captured the Brunswick Classic championship. Luese Ufuah added 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Sydney Coleman had six points and four assists. Dani Pescatore led Hillsborough (2-3) with eight points and Elissa Nsenkyire scored five points. 

Bishop Ahr 39, Long Branch 38: Emma Boslet had 20 points and six rebounds for undefeated Bishop Ahr (6-0) in the semifinals of the Lady Wave Holiday Tournament at Long Branch. Bishop Ahr had a 16-8 advantage in the second quarter. Sara Decker contributed eight points and seven rebounds. Megan Herka added six points, three rebounds and three assists.

Perth Amboy Tech 54, East Brunswick Tech 29: C Crowe scored 18 points and Daisy Arocho and Eliza Arocho each netted 11 points to lead Perth Amboy Tech (3-2). Perth Amboy led 31-18 at halftime as Kayla Dean and Hannah Cotayo each scored six points. Grace D'Amato led East Brunswick Tech (1-4) with 12 points and Jordyn Pizarro added seven points.

Veritas Christian 32, North Plainfield 25: Kelisha Chambers had six points, six rebounds and six steals for North Plainfield (1-4) in the loss against undefeated Veritas Christian (11-0) at the Tech Tournament at East Brunswick Tech. North Plainfield led 22-16 at halftime. Adding five points apiece were Kayla Adams (seven rebounds, five steals), Kierra Adams and Tiana Presely (eight rebounds). 

Manville 41, Highland Park 35: The Sanchez sisters, Isabella and Angelina, each scored 11 points and Zytajsah Abner added 10 points and 15 rebounds to fuel Manville (2-4) at the Clem Santy Tournament at the Faber School in Dunellen. Manville jumped to a 20-6 lead after the first quarter. Aiya Underwood led Highland Park (0-6) with 12 points and Ariyana Samuel scored eight points.

Piscataway 64, Montclair 38: LaNiya Miller erupted for 27 points with eight rebounds and Ariel Jenkins had 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead Piscataway (6-0) in the Mount St. Dominic Tournament. Additionally, Yamirah Bennett had six points and seven assists and Saniya Myers grabbed seven rebounds.

Bridgewater-Raritan 56, Montgomery 49: Katie Kowal scored 15 points to lead Bridgewater-Raritan (4-1) at the Cougar Classic at Montgomery. Bridgewater-Raritan, which led 18-8 after the first quarter, also had double-digit scoring efforts from Teresa Wolak (13 points), Keiko Fox (10 points) and Kristin Tribel (10 points). For Montgomery (3-2), Bria Johnson had 14 points, five rebounds and five assists and Abby March added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 59, Elizabeth 30: Stefanie DeVizio scored 14 points and Corrinne Lyght had nine points and five assists to lead Scotch Plains-Fanwood in the semifinals of the Benedictine Academy Christmas Tournament. Brianna O'Brien added 10 points and Eboni Davis had seven rebounds and four points. Nya Downing chipped in eight points and six rebounds.

Middlesex 54, Dunellen 38: Carly Santucci and Olivia Robel (12 free throws) each scored 20 points as Middlesex won the Clem Santy Tournament at the Faber School in Dunellen. Brooke Nelson added seven points for the Blue Jays. Chloe Cassidy led Dunellen with 14 points and Alison McGrath had seven points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Somerville 43, Roxbury 37: Emily Markowski had a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds with four assists and three steals as Somerville won the Morris Hills Holiday Tournament. Christina Cernuto added 14 points for Somerville (5-1) with four rebounds and four assists, while Meghan Douglas had six rebounds and four assists. Additionally, Caitlin Breidenbruch and Sara Tavares each had four assists.

Mount St. Mary 43, Union Catholic 24: Maria Jaeckel had nine points, five rebounds and three steals as Mount St. Mary (3-2) won the Rocky Lettieri Christmas Tournament at Union Catholic. Jaeckel was named the tournament's MVP. Alexis Brown had 10 points and five rebounds and Abby Stout added eight points and five rebounds.  Madison Johnson led Union Catholic (3-2) with eight points and Erin McNulty had seven points.

ICE HOCKEY

Hillsborough 3, West Morris 3: Sean Ely (assist), Domenick Mazzaferro (assist) and Lleyton Soares each scored for Hillsborough (2-6-3) in the Protec Ponds Tournament. Danny Volonnino recorded 25 saves. Also getting assists were Mike Jandoli, Jack Spitzer, Mike LoRicco and Jason Wolff.
