North 2 Group III

Voorhees 24, Parsippany Hills 19: Colin Tong rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback George Eberle ran for a score and kicked a 26-yard field goal, as third-seeded Voorhees overcame an early deficit to pull ahead and then held off a fierce rally in the final seconds to advance to the North 2 Group III final, the Vikings first championship-game berth since winning the Central Group II crown in 1995.

Second-seeded Parsippany Hills led 7-3 at halftime and 13-3 early in the third quarter, before Voorhees scored two touchdowns in the third quarter and another early in the fourth quarter to take a 24-13 lead. But Par Hills scored on a 37-yard pass to pull within 24-19, and was knocking on the door for the would-be game-winner before the Voorhees defense came up with a stop at the 1-yard line as time expired to secure the victory.

Voorhees will face top-seeded West Essex for the championship on Dec. 2.

West Essex 28, Rahway 14: Zion Pendleton scored on a 33-yard run in the first quarter and Dashon Moore scored on a 56-yard pass from Jakir Robinson in the second, but fifth-seeded Rahway couldn’t hold off the top seed, falling the semifinals to finish its season 6-4.
