Bernards 40, Somerville 36: Jenna Scarpa poured in 19 points and Bridget Cawley added eight points, including two free throws with eight seconds left in regulation to seal the win for Bernards. The Mountaineers battled back from a six-point third quarter deficit. Emily Markowski scored 14 points and Christina Cernuto added 12 points for sixth-ranked Somerville.

Bound Brook 49, Mount St. Mary 28: Cameron Ward notched 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds as reigning state Group I champion Bound Brook opened with a victory. Cortlyn Morris notched 10 points, five rebounds and seven blocks and Julia Nilsen chipped in 10 points and six boards for the seventh-ranked Crusaders. Gina Neigel scored nine points and Natalie Mathern added eight points for Mount St. Mary.

Pingry 61, Belvidere 29: Kelsey Ransom posted an opening-day triple-double, tallying 20 points, 10 rebounds and 11 steals to power Pingry. Megan Horn went for 26 points, seven rebounds and six steals for the Big Blue.

Rutgers Prep 57, Immaculata 12: Leilani Correa opened her junior season with 20 points and six rebounds, and Chiara Tibbitt chipped in 15 points and six boards to send second-ranked Rutgers Prep.

Gill St. Bernard’s 50, North Hunterdon 14: Sydnei Caldwell notched 26 points and Caileigh Walsh added eight points to lead third-ranked Gill St. Bernard’s. Aniya Stevenson, Kristen Newsome and Sam VanBelle each scored four points for North Hunterdon.

Voorhees 64, North Plainfield 24: Colby Gavornik led the way with 23 points and Bella Cafaro added 14 points to fuel Voorhees. Katie McCombs chipped in 10 points in the victory. Kierra Adams scored 14 points to lead North Plainfield.

Delaware Valley 59, Manville 16: Margaret Affeld netted 16 points and Allison Scheier scored 15 points to fuel 10th-ranked Delaware Valley. Zytasha Abner posted six points, five rebounds and nine blocks, and Jasmarae Ruiz added five points and five boards for Manville.

Warren Hills 53, South Hunterdon 13: Rylee Bordwick and Alana Catanzareti each scored four points to pace South Hunterdon. Rebecca Phillips grabbed five boards in for the Eagles.

Linden 40, Plainfield 34: Senior Tahani Helms-Ishmael tallied 12 points and five rebounds and Jailah White added eight points to pace Plainfield.

Hunterdon Central 42, Ridge 25: Nicole Carter scored 16 points and Michaela Mastriano added eight points as ninth-ranked Hunterdon Central rolled to an opening-night victory.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 47, Governor Livingston 27: Nya Downing and Corrinne Lyght each opened with a double-double to send Scotch Plains-Fanwood. Downing finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Lyght added 10 points and 10 boards. Brianna O’Brien chipped in six points and five assists in the victory. Skylar Dowling netted 12 points and Paige Phillips scored six points for Governor Livingston.

Hillsborough 41, Phillipsburg 39: Dani Pescatore poured in 21 points and Alyssa Freda added 10 points to send Hillsborough.
