Prayer carpets discussed April 18 in Rocky Hill

Princeton Rug Society will present a free lecture on “Prayer Carpets – A Room in a Room” by Anna Beselin, senior textile conservator at the Museum of Islamic Art in Berlin, at 1 p.m. on April 18 at Mary Jacobs Library, 64 Washington St., Rocky Hill. Prayer carpets are among the most famous and favored of oriental rugs, the Princeton Rug Society said in a news release. Aligned to Mecca during prayer, the carpet serves as a special space and boundary in the worshiper creates “a room inside a room.” The lecture is free.
