WOODBRIDGE – State Police have been joined by members of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Perth Amboy Police and Fire Departments in searching for a man who reportedly jumped off the Driscoll Bridge Tuesday.

State Trooper Alina Spies said troopers were dispatched to the Driscoll Bridge in Woodbridge around 7:44 a.m. after a witness reported seeing a man jump over the side the bridge.

Spies said the State Police Marine Unit, U.S. Coast Guard and Perth Amboy police and firefighters are looking for the man.

Perth Amboy Fire Chief Abraham Pitre said after nearly three hours searching, the man had not been spotted.

The Alfred E. Driscoll Bridge carries the Garden State Parkway over the Raritan River between Sayreville and Woodbridge. About 200,000 vehicles travel across the bridge each day, according to the state Department of Transportation.
