HNT boys soccer roundup for Monday, Sept. 8

Middlesex 2, Spotswood 1 (OT): Paolo Marina scored an unassisted golden goal in the 82nd minute to lift the Middlesex High School boys soccer team to a 2-1 overtime victory over Spotswood on Monday.

Zach Rios scored on an assist from Luis Burgos in the 38th minute to put the Blue Jays ahead 1-0.

Justin Vizzi scored off Nick Logatto’s corner kick for the Chargers to tie the game in the 78th minute.

Spotswood keeper Zach Rodriguez stopped a penalty shot in the first half.

Metuchen 1, Bishop Ahr 0: Cameron Kessler finished a feed from Mike Plunkett in the 42nd minute as Metuchen improved to 2-0. Ben O’Connell made nine saves for the Bulldogs while Bishop Ahr (1-1) goalie Anthony Tirri made seven saves.

Carteret 4 Highland Park 3 (OT): Mussa Diouf scored two goals and the overtime game-winner for Carteret (1-1). Jerry Neira and Francisco Gonzalez also scored for the Ramblers. John Buzzbee scored two goals for Highland Park (0-2). Mateo Julianni also scored for the Owls and Jonah Beberman assisted all 3 goals. Julio Velez got the win in goal for Carteret.

Wardlaw-Hartridge 4, South River 1: Anthony Appiah netted two goals and an assist and Julian Hernandez-Webster tallied a goal and assist to propel Wardlaw-Hartridge (2-0). Kevin Mendez netted a goal for South River (0-2) while Stephan Lukianov made 13 saves.

Woodbridge Academy 4, Perth Amboy Tech 3: Yaruh Urchil scored four goals to power Woodbridge Academy (1-1) to the win. Gonzalo Bazan collected two assists for Perth Amboy Tech (1-1).

Piscataway Tech 3, Cardinal McCarrick 1: Jose Morales netted two goals and Johnathon Flores recorded two assists to lead Piscataway Tech (1-0-1). Josh Trapp made 10 saves in goal for the Raiders. Cardinal McCarrick is 0-2.

Timothy Christian 8, Middlesex Academy 1: Ayub Yousaf recorded three goals and two assists as Timothy Christian improved to 2-0. Aaron Maskarenas scored for Middlesex Academy (0-2).

East Brunswick Tech 2, South Amboy 1: Alejandro Fernandez and Carlos Hernandez each scored goals for East Brunswick Tech (1-0-1) while Troy Bello made 12 saves in goal. Kenny Vergara netted a goal for South Amboy (1-1).
