FIRST TEAM

GERALD CUBERO

Position: Forward

School: Bound Brook

Highlights: The junior tallied 36 goals and 11 assists as Bound Brook finished 11-4 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Central Group I Tournament. Cubero scored at least one goal in 13 games this season and recorded a season high seven goals and four assists in the season-opener.

DAN PAEZ

Position: Forward

School: Bernards

Highlights: The junior had 14 goals and nine assists as Bernards finished 12-4-4, advanced to the semifinals of the Somerset County Tournament and the semifinals of Central Group II.

CN Boys Soccer: Ricky Steeb of Montgomery is Coach of the Year

ARI ROSENZWEIG

Position: Midfielder/Forward

School: Scotch Plains-Fanwood

Highlights: The senior recorded 26 goals and eight assists as Scotch Plains-Fanwood finished 20-2-2, won the UCIAC Watchung Division title and its fifth-straight Union County Tournament title before falling in the semifinals of the North 2 Group IV semifinals.

JACK DELANEY

Position: Midfielder/Striker

School: The Pingry School

Highlights: The senior tallied five goals and five assists as he helped lead Pingry to a 12-4-3 record, the Skyland Conference Delaware Division co-championship as well as the Somerset County Tournament co-championship for the 20th time.

JACOB VILLACRES

Position: Midfielder

School: South Plainfield

Highlights: The junior recorded seven goals and 24 assists as South Plainfield finished 16-7-2, finished second in the GMC White Division, won the GMC Tournament title and advanced to the semifinals of the North Group III Tournament.

STEVEN BEDNARSKY

Position: Midfielder

School: Gill St. Bernard’s

Highlights: The junior had nine goals and 22 assists and is described by Gill coach Tony Bednarsky as a “creative playmaker.” Steven Bednarsky helped lead the Knights to an 18-4 record, the Prep B Tournament title, the Skyland Conference Valley Division title, the Somerset County Tournament semifinals and the North Non-Public B final.

ANDREW PANNONE

Position: Midfielder/Defense

School: Hunterdon Central

Highlights: One of the county’s top point scorers with six goals and three assists, the senior helped fortify a Hunterdon Central lineup by playing all over the field. The Red Devils finished with a 9-5-4 record, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament as the No. 7 seed.

ZACH EPSTEIN

Position: Defense

School: Montgomery

Highlights: The senior captain anchored a Montgomery team that finished 13-2-3, won the Skyland Conference Raritan Division title for the first time in 11 years and won its first Somerset County Tournament title. The Somerset County Player of the Year also chipped in two goals and three assists.

CONNER YURCISIN

Position: Defense

School: Montgomery

Highlights: The senior captain, who will attend Connecticut College next season, tallied three goals and two assists as he helped anchor a Cougars defense that posted five shutouts, allowed only 16 goals all season and advanced to the NJSIAA Central Group IV quarterfinals.

KEVIN REINHARD

Position: Defense

School: Westfield

Highlights: The junior helped anchor a defense that posted seven shutouts and allowed only 19 goals as Westfield finished 9-7-2. Reinhard also chipped in three goals as the Blue Devils advanced to the Union County Tournament semifinals and the Central Group IV quarterfinals.

SEAN MURRAY

Position: Goalie

School: Scotch Plains-Fanwood

Highlights: The junior posted 10 shutouts and allowed 21 goals as Scotch Plains-Fanwood won its fifth-straight Union County Tournament title, the UCIAC Watchung Division title and advanced to the North 2 Group IV semifinals.
