LETTER: Rise up against Bedminster solar-farm plan

The environmental community woke up when they discovered that KDC Solar made plans for a solar power plant at Six Flags that would require clear-cutting of 18,000 trees.

KDC Solar has proposed the same development on the Kirby Family Trust farm in Bedminster to serve Sanofi, a large French pharmaceutical company, in Bridgewater, about half a mile away and separated by I-287 and Country Club Road and determined by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to be contiguous with the Kirby Farm. Imagine that.

The environmental community should strongly oppose what is proposed in Bedminster as they are now doing for the Six Flags development.

Destroying the environment to save it is ludicrous. Both end-user locations have more than sufficient rooftops, parking lots and open industrial land to provide siting for their respective solar power requirements.

The solar purveyors and all the others involved in making a profit, by selling sustainability, need to move their value systems from greedy green to sustainable green.

The next Land Use Board public hearing for the Sanofi power plant is Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at the Bedminster municipal building. Please attend to show your opposition and if possible please donate to support the costs of opposition at www.preservebedminster.com.
