WE'VE GOT YOU COVERED
Our team of sports writers and photographers will provide complete coverage of this weekend's New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Individual Wrestling Championships in the Home News Tribune and Courier News and at MyCentralJersey.com.
Harry Frezza and Mike Becker will file multiple stories online and in print daily throughout the duration of the tournament, which will be contested Friday through Sunday at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
The tournament is among the nation's most heavily attended scholastic sporting events with paid admission exceeding 40,000 for the three-day event each of the past two years.
Photographers Jason Towlen and Pete Ackerman will augment our coverage with photo galleries and videos online, as well as photos in print.
With an assist from Region V ranking chairman Ron Mazzola, who serves as the official scorekeeper for the NJSIAA, we will be able to provide our online audience with real-time results. As Mazzola records the bout sheet of every single contested state tournament match into a computer database from his mats-side seat, Becker will instantly post those same results at our On the Mat blog (blogs.mycentraljersey.com/onthemat).
On the Mat correspondent Luca Rispoli, a former Old Bridge High School wrestler and current NJSIAA referee, will provide a live blog throughout the weekend with an emphasis on Home News Tribune and Courier News area wrestlers. He will blog live play-by-play from multiple rounds including the quarterfinals, semifinals, consolation finals and championships. The Greater Middlesex Conference Wrestling Coaches Association named Rispoli its 2012-13 Media Person of the Year for his outstanding work on the blog.
