Erin Seppi of Monroe High School is everything a coach can ask for in a player. She has been on a nonstop grind since her freshman year, which has helped her develop into one of the top goalkeepers in the country.

This season, the University of Maryland-bound senior is seeing her hard work pay off. Seppi adds yet another monumental moment to her already long list of accomplishments as the Monroe keeper has been selected to compete in the third annual Girls High School All-American Game on Dec. 5 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

“Receiving this award has always been a goal of mine. I am honored and very excited to be able to play in the High School All-American game,” Seppi said. “I could not be more thankful for coach (Kathleen) Dillon and my family for supporting me these past four years.”

The game will showcase 40 of the nation’s top players. According to the news release, “The players selected are seniors who have finished their high school careers and represent their high school teams during the fall season. These players have achieved many regional and national awards and will attend some of the top universities across the country.”

Seppi is typically known as a team player — she was honored at a Sky Blue FC game as the High School Captain of the Year in August — but this game will give recognition to her personal success during her four years in a Monroe uniform. So far this season, Seppi has paved the way in net for her team with 90 saves and 14 shutouts.

“I am very proud of the many accomplishments Erin has achieved throughout her high school career,” Dillon said. “It is truly a privilege to coach an athlete of her caliber.

“She is by all means the ‘total package.’ Erin is equipped with a full arsenal of abilities that make her very deserving of the honor of being selected as an All-American. Erin will be the first athlete from Monroe Township High School to receive such an honor. I can’t think of a more deserving player.”

Monroe is jumping in to the most important stretch in its schedule. After winning the Greater Middlesex Conference Red Division, the Falcons have raised the bar. They will play in a GMC Tournament semifinal on Thursday against South Brunswick and are the No. 4 seed in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV bracket, which will start on Nov. 2.
