Favorite: Woodbridge's Bryan McLaughlin takes a 22-0 record into the tournament and is the clear-cut favorite. He placed third in the GMCT and second in District 19 a year ago at 138 pounds. The Barrons' flagship wrestler, McLaughlin has competed at 160 and 170 pounds all season. He will be competing at 152 pounds for the first time on Friday. McLaughlin has pinned 13 opponents including the last five.
Top contenders: Eric Nolan (Edison, 17-3), Tyler Underwood (Bishop Ahr, 17-4), Kevin Coleman (Metuchen, 14-4), Xavier Jenkins (Old Bridge, 19-3).

Notes: Coleman finished fourth in the GMCT at 126 pounds last season. Underwood was fourth at 145 pounds in the GMCT a year ago. Abode makes our list of others to watch by virtue of his upset of Coleman in the Buc Classic (Coleman reversed that 7-6 loss with a technical fall during a regular-season dual). This may not be the deepest weight class of the tournament, but there is a great deal of parity regarding who will meet McLaughlin in the final.
