Congressman Leonard Lance (R-Dist. 7) visited with Mountainside senior citizens earlier this month to discuss current events and Lance’s work in Washington. After the conversation and question-and-answer period, the group presented Lance with the “Guardian of Seniors’ Rights Award” on behalf of the 60 Plus Association.

Mountainside residents Eve Vitale and Bill Albrecht spoke about Lance’s leadership on senior citizens issues. They told the group, “Congressman Lance is a tireless advocate for our most vulnerable citizens and a man of true honor and conscience. On behalf of 60 Plus and Mountainside seniors we are proud to present this award to our loyal and trusted friend, Congressman Lance.”

Lance thanked Vitale and Albrecht and the other seniors in attendance and said, “My votes are reflective of what I am hearing directly from senior citizens across the district. Many are rightfully concerned over the future of their health care, their life savings, their retirement and the future for their children and grandchildren. They want a safer world, a strong American economy and piece of mind.”

The award was created by the non-partisan 60 Plus Association who selected Lance for his voting record that includes fighting to protect the health care plans senior citizens know and like, preserving Medicare and Social Security for current retirees, ensuring entitlements for future seniors, voting to cut wasteful spending and enacting policies that allow seniors to keep more of what they have saved.

60 Plus Association national president Jim Martin said, “Leonard Lance can always be counted on to put the needs and concerns of seniors above politics. He is a tireless advocate. 60 Plus is proud to present the Guardian of Seniors' Rights award to our loyal and trusted friend, Congressman Leonard Lance.”

Lance also told the group his district offices are ready to assist those who are experiencing difficulties with federal agencies such as the IRS, Social Security Administration, Veterans Affairs, the State Department or any other federal agency. The Westfield Office can be reached at 908-518-7733 and the Flemington Office can be reached at 908-788-6900.
