Bishop Ahr 2nd at Minuteman

Gavin Ringwood (106), John Sheedy (138), Tyler Underwood (160) and Andrew Brazicki (182) won individual titles while leading the Bishop Ahr High School wrestling team to a second-place finish in Saturday’s Minuteman Classic in Elizabeth.

Dylan O’Connor (113) and Devin Michael (170) also reached the finals for Bishop Ahr.

Colonia, led by Sam Pero’s 170-pound title, placed fourth. Wall won the team title with 170 points, 29 more than Bishop Ahr.

“I think we looked sharp and are ready to go fight it out in the (Greater Middlesex Conference White) division,” Bishop Ahr coach Nick Tonzola said.

Monroe 1-2 in CBA Quad

Monroe received a stern test from state powers Brick Memorial and host Christian Brothers Academy during a quad meet in Lincroft.

The Falcons dropped a 42-30 decision to Brick Memorial and lost 39-25 to Christian Brothers Academy. Monroe defeated Middletown South 46-21 in the quad.

Monroe was not at full strength. Nicky Lombard remains out with an injury, while Pat Dressel returned Saturday from an injury of his own.

“A lot of teams are not at full strength and we are in the same boat,” Monroe coach Billy Jacoutot said. “We have not been at full strength and we are wrestling tough competition. We schedule (tough) early in preparation for our conference schedule.”

Monroe has Greater Middlesex Conference duals with Old Bridge (Jan. 8) and Edison (Jan.14) before wrestling against defending Red Division and league tournament champion South Plainfield on Jan. 16 at the Rutgers Athletic Center.
