GMC Tournament first round

J.P. Stevens 5, Woodbridge 3: Ashley Lombardi allowed four hits, giving up three unearned runs in the fifth inning, as third-seeded J.P. Stevens advanced and will host sixth-seeded Sayreville in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Kayla Smith went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run for the Hawks (16-5) while Lombardi also had two hits, driving in and scoring a run. Justine Stefura hit a two-out three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to account for all the scoring for 14th-seeded Woodbridge (11-14).

Central Group IV quarterfinals

Hunterdon Central 15, Marlboro 12: Michaela Dix hit a two-out, three-run walkoff homer in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Hunterdon Central High School softball team scored 11 runs over the last two innings to rally from an eight-run deficit as the second-seeded Red Devils escaped seventh-seeded Marlboro with a 15-12 victory in the NJSIAA Central Group IV quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Dix went 4-for-5 with five RBI while Ally Hernandez hit a two-run homer in the sixth, Jess McGuire contributed a two-run seventh inning single, and Hayley Fico hit a solo shot in the seventh.

Olivia Zengel also went 4-for-5 for the Red Devils, who will play host to third-seeded Monroe in Tuesday’s semifinals.

Hillsborough 11, South Brunswick 6: Nicole Wishard went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, and three RBI and Taryn Grober went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI to power top-seeded Hillsborough (19-3) into Tuesday’s quarterfinal against fourth-seeded Sayreville. Jess Santelli also recorded two hits along with two RBI and three runs scored for the Raiders, who scored two in the bottom of the first and six in the second after trailing 3-0. Five of the six runs allowed by winning pitcher Katie Gademsky were unearned as she gave up six hits. Haley Grossi went 2-for-3 with two runs for eighth-seeded South Brunswick (16-7) while Amanda Fisher doubled and drove in a run.

Central Group II quarterfinals

Governor Livingston 6, Cinnaminson 0: Alanna Namit fired a five-hit shutout, striking out nine and walking two, to lead fifth-seeded Governor Livingston (22-5). Jaime Belfer went 3-for-4 and Steph Bade and Alex Foley both homered for the Highlanders, who will host eighth-seeded Matawan, which upset top-seeded A.L. Johnson, in Tuesday’s semifinal.

Central Group I quarterfinals

South River 13, South Amboy 3 (6 inn.): Mackenzie Garrick struck out eight, walked two, and allowed three earned runs on as fifth-seeded South River (18-8) scored six runs in the top of the sixth to break open the game. The Rams will visit top-seeded Bound Brook in Tuesday’s semifinal. Ashley Mandala hit a two-run home run for fourth-seeded South Amboy (13-5), which committed nine errors.

Florence 7, Metuchen 0: Liane Cifrodelli went 3-for-3 with a double and Molly O’Connor allowed eight hits over six innings as seventh-seeded Metuchen (14-12) fell.

North 2 Group IV quarterfinals

Piscataway 11, Millburn 6: Julia Seader went 4-for-4 with a home run, triple, and four runs scored as 10th-seeded Piscataway (9-9) won its second straight state game on the road and will host 14th-seeded Phillipsburg in the semifinals on Tuesday. Jessica Alicea also homered while Michelle Gebhardt, Caitlyn Erdman, Jackie McEvoy, and Sarah Ogilvie all had two hits each for the Chiefs while driving in at least one run. Ogilvie got the win, but was tagged for five earned runs on 13 hits.

North 2 Group III quarterfinals

Voorhees 4, Warren Hills 3 (8 inn.): The seventh-seeded Vikings plated the winning run on an error in the bottom of the eighth inning to advance to Tuesday’s semifinal at sixth-seeded West Morris. Morgan Clemens dorve in two runs for Voorhees (15-8), which had six singles. Hannah Schiavo struck out 11, walked seven, and allowed three earned runs on four hits for the win.

North 2 Group II quarterfinals

Bernards 6, Leonia 1: Sammi Re went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI , and run as top-seeded Bernards held a 5-0 lead through two innings and will host fourth-seeded Madison in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Holly Lallis struck out 12 and allowed five hits for the win.

Non-Public South B first round

Gill St. Bernard’s 2, Pingry 0: Emma Corbett fired a two-hit shutout, striking out 16 and walking one as seventh-seeded Gill St. Bernard’s (18-8) advanced to Tuesday’s quarterfinal at second-seeded Cardinal McCarrick. The Knights scored both their runs in the bottom of the fifth as Maddy Bedrock and Eliza Brookman drove in the runs. Bedrock went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Amanda Van Orden had both hits for 10th-seeded Pingry (8-10). Katie Marino struck out 14, walked three, and allowed two unearned runs on four hits in the loss.

Non-Public South A first round

Bishop Eustace 5, Immaculata 1: Jen Bercaw went 2-for-4 and Fran Torraca doubled and drove in a run as eighth-seeded Immaculata (8-15), the defending sectional champion, was ousted by the No. 9 seed.

Regular Season

Dunellen 10, Middlesex 7: Alex Reidy had three RBI and Mena Feliciano doubled to propel Dunellen (22-3). Michelle Wisniewski went 2-for-5 with a home run and Ashley Dotey was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and three runs for Middlesex (8-14).

South Hunterdon 12, Belvidere 2 (5 innings): Giovanna Rubino doubled and drove in two runs and Taylor Farlee doubled and scored twice to boost South Hunterdon (8-11).

Somerset Tech 12, East Brunswick Tech 10: Yesha Parekh, Tabitha Hoats, Samantha Warchal, Brianna LaFace, and Giannie Cintron each had two hits apiece to lead Somerset Tech (10-6). Gabriella Carnivale tripled and scored four runs for East Brunswick Tech (3-20).

North Plainfield 12, Manville 4: Victoria Kisling went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Molly Appazzato added two hits and an RBI for North Plainfield (8-9). Megan Mack smacked a solo home run and scored two runs and Sam Loriot posted a double and two RBIs for Manville (3-14).
