GMC softball roundup for Saturday, April 26

Spotswood 2, Piscataway 1: Alexa Raba hit a walk off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Bri Worden and lift the Spotswood High School softball team to a 2-1 victory over Piscataway on Saturday in Spotswood.

Worden, who went 2-for-3, singled to lead off the home seventh and Julie Raba followed with a double to put runners on second and third for Alexa Raba.

Alexa Raba, who went 2-for-3 with a double, earned the win in the circle as she allowed an earned run on six hits while striking out five and walking none.

Samantha Mohr went 2-for-2 with a fifth inning RBI single for Spotswood (9-1) to tie the game.

Sarah Ogilvie hit an RBI single in the top half of the fifth inning that put Piscataway (4-4) ahead 1-0 at the time as Jackie McEvoy scored after reaching on a double. Ogilvie took the loss as she gave up eight hits, struck out seven, walked two, and allowed two runs, one of which was earned.

South Plainfield 3, Bishop Ahr 0: The Tigers (12-0) scored all three runs in the top of the first inning.

Holly DeLair delievered with an RBI single to score Meghan Hughes, who doubled, and Camryn Schaeffer followed with a two-run single that scored Caroline Ratti, who walked, and DeLair.

DeLair and Schaeffer both had two hits for the Tigers, who got a five-hit shutout from Katherine Vill in the circle.

Christine LaRochelle went 2-for-4 for Bishop Ahr (7-4) while she allowed three earned runs on eight hits, taking the loss in the circle.

Sayreville 6, Old Bridge 2: Erin Fitzsimmons fired a one-hitter, as she struck out 12, walked three, and gave up an unearned run for Sayreville (6-2). Christina Misiur went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI for the Bombers while Emily Carbrea also had two hits, driving in and scoring a run, and Kayla Stvan tripled and drove in two runs. Jess Ahearn had the only hit for Old Bridge (2-7).

South Brunswick 15, Middlesex 0 (5 inn.): Nicole Majewski went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI, and two runs and Carly Rybinski went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs as South Brunswick (5-4) scored six runs in the third inning and seven in the fifth, collecting 18 hits as a team. Majewski allowed just two hits for the shutout win in the circle as she struck out seven and walked none. Amanda Fisher, Ashley Shor, and Casey Notarianni all had two hits each for the Vikings while Meghan Reeder tripled and drove in three runs. Brielle Murillo and Kristie Takach both doubled for Middlesex (4-9).

Edison 8, Carteret 6: Nikki Gresh went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI to lead Edison (2-9). Tatiana Yourstone and Laura Flynn both also had two hits each for the Eagles while Bianca Newsom hit a solo home run. Caitlyn Murray went 3-for-3 with a double, two homes runs, and six RBI for Carteret (3-8).

J.F. Kennedy 14, Perth Amboy 1 (5 inn.): Kayla Coleman went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI to lieft J.F. Kennedy (5-7). Madison Buttitta went 2-for-4 with five RBI and three runs for the Mustangs while Ashley Conroy also had a 3-for-4 day. Coleman allowed an earned run on four hits for the win.

Dunellen 23, Piscataway Tech 0 (3 inn.): Emily Cody went 2-for-4 with five RBI and pitched two scoreless innings as Dunellen (9-1) won its ninth straight game. Nicole Hurasek also had two hits for the Destroyers.

New Brunswick 14, Perth Amboy Tech 13: Evanna Martinez went 2-for-2 with two RBI for New Brunswick (3-7). Cynthia Santiago and Nichole Rivas both had two hits, including a triple, while driving in one run and scoring twice for the Zebras. Perth Amboy Tech fell to 5-6.

Keansburg 7, South River 4: Alyssa Andrejic went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored for South River (9-3). With the game tied 2-2 through five innings, Keansburg three in the sixth and two in the seventh to go ahead 7-2 before the Rams came up short, scoring two runs in the home seventh.

Calvary Christian 13, East Brunswick Tech 1 (5 inn.): Leanne Paulson, Irene McKinlay, and Elena Paxton all had two hits each for Calvary Christian (4-4). Gabrielle Curcio tripled and scored a run for East Brunswick Tech (2-10).
