Softball: A.L. Johnson top seed in Union County Tournament

The 2015 Union County Softball Tournament was seeded Monday night and A.L. Johnson was selected as the No. 1 seed followed by Governor Livingston, Rahway, and Westfield to round out the top four seeds.

The tournament will begin with four preliminary round games, which must be played by Thursday, with the first round slated for Saturday.

The quarterfinals are slated for Friday, May 1 at Flanagan Fields in Linden with two games at 5:30 p.m. and two games at 7:30 p.m.

The semifinals are Saturday, May 2 at Flanagan Fields with both games at 3 p.m.

The final is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 at Kean University at 2 p.m.

Here are the seeds and matchups: 17-Oak Knoll at 16-Benedictine, winner at 1-A.L. Johnson; 9-Union at 8-Brearley; 12-Summit at 5-Cranford; 20-New Providence at 13-Roselle Park, winner at 4-Westfield; 11-Dayton at 6-Elizabeth; 19-Roselle Catholic at 14-Linden, winner at 3-Rahway; 10-Union Catholic at 7-Scotch Plains-Fanwood; 18-Plainfield at 15-Kent Place, winner at 2-Governor Livingston.
