Skyland Conf./UCC softball roundup for Tuesday, April 14

Delaware Valley 5, Pingry 4: Amanda O'Brien scattered 11 hits and walked none for the win. O"Brien added a sacrifice fly while Lauren Tuozzolo had a two-run single in the fifth for Delaware Valley (5-2). Katie Marino was the hard luck loser allowing only three hits while striking out eight for Pingry (3-2). Marino hit a solo home run to lead off the top of the seventh and Pingry proceeded to load the bases with no outs, trailing 5-4. Three stellar defensive plays by second baseman Ashley Britt (2 force outs at home and a force out at first) ended the threat for Pingry.

Bernards 11, Somerville 3: Julianne Dean and Emily Paris each went 4-for-4 to power Bernards. Paris and Ali Kramer both doubled and homered while Dean drove in four runs. Caroline Baratta was 3-for-4 for the Mountaineers and Holly Lallis gave up three unearned runs on seven hits for the win as she struck out seven and walked none. Kim Comacho and Jazley Szierer each went 2-for-3 for Somerville.

Westfield 13, Summit 7: Sam Velez went 2-for-4 with a double and five RBI to lead Westfield (3-3), which led 9-0 through three innings. Elena Elliott went 2-for-3 for the Blue Devils and got the win in the circle.

Bound Brook 19, Manville 3 (4 inn.): Lacey Meyer went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, 2 RBI and a walk. Aimee Sarboukh went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, 3 RBI and a double as Bound Brook improved to 4-0.

South Hunterdon 20, Pennington 5 (5 inn.): Giovanna Rubino went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, six RBI, and three runs to lead South Hunterdon (1-3). Sadie LErman went 2-for-2 as the Eagles had 12 hits.

Mount St. Mary 11, Lacordaire 1 (6 inn.): Christina Aurilia went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs to lead Mount St. Mary (4-2). Brigid McNamara went 2-for-3 with a double and allowed an earned run on eight hits for the win.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 14, New Providence 2: Erica Waltsak and Jessica Waltsak both recorded two hits and drove in two runs to lead Scotch Plains-Fanwood (4-3), which scored six runs in the seventh inning. Kyra Lockhart and Danielle Scheu both also had two hits for the Raiders. Scheu allowed an earned run on six hits for the win. Karalyn McKnight went 2-for-2 with an RBI and run for New Providence (0-2) while Katie Harris also had two hits.

A.L. Johnson 12, Union Catholic 0 (5 inn.): Emily Garno had the only hit of the game for Union Catholic (3-5).
